If we play the warriors or Sharks week 1, I have reasonable confidence we get through. Playing the Broncos at Lang Park would leave me far less confident. The way the Roosters are playing, I’m also glad we don’t have to play the Roosters in week 1. The way they have been going that could be a real danger game. In saying that though, we have the ability to beat anyone on our day. Win 4 on the trot starting 12-14 September and we win 5 in a row. If any team can do it from 7th or 8th it’s us.

People are kidding if they think we are the team of the last 5 years. We are not. Our defence isnt as good and even our attack this year has been so so at times..

Yeah, it worries me how a section of fans are delusional about the team. As far as a regular season goes we can justifiably Grade it as a C-. Coming in 7th or 8th after winning the comp 4 years in a row is a very big drop in performance and capability.

The thing that works in our favour is our body of experience turning it on in the finals.

Against us is our form. We have been ordinary since the Titans 2nd half (that should have been the wake up call) and will have then had 2 weeks off. The lack of match fitness and winning match fitness at that is concerning.

Dogs simply don't have the side especially in the forwards to trouble us, I don't believe I'm being arrogant here.

Agree with this. Gives us a chance to build match fitness and warm up to the better teams.

So out of the 7 how would you Tier our opponents?

I would go;

Tier 1: Storm - capable of going with us even when we are close to our best.
Canberra - same as the above but more Tier 1.5. Storm have finals experience in players and coaching that Raiders simply don't have.

Tier 2: Broncos/Roosters - Dangerous if they play close to their best whilst we perform at a 7/10 level.

Tier 3: Dogs/Sharks - can beat us only if they play out of their skins and we perform at a mediocre 5/10 level .

Tier 4: Warriors - only a diabolical choke by the Panthers can see them win.

I think a lot of fans are overestimating us because of our finals and GF dominance of the past 4-5 years. In reality we've only played a few particularly impressive games all year and one of them was without our Origin players in New Zealand. I wouldn't be confident going to Brisbane Week 1, especially as they'd see it as a chance to finally get some revenge for the '23 GF so I'd want to avoid that scenario. The Sharks would be second hardest and Warriors the least toughest on form.

Sorry all. I still can't shake the smug.

1 loss in 13 finals matches since 2021. Make it 2 from 16 if you want to include 2020. 4 straight premierships. You may want to read that again. You're literally watching one of the greatest teams of all time.

I still reckon the old Penrith attitude is coming out in a few on here. We had all the resources but were consistently disappointing for many years. It was expected that we would fall on our faces when it mattered. Now your future grandchildren will sit on your knee begging you to tell stories about how good we were. Or in my case they'll tell me to shut up because I won't stop talking about them.

Success is now in our DNA and its going to show in September.

I actually think, if we have a full strength team with no injuries, the Broncos will still be haunted by the 2023 GF comeback, It could either inspire them or spook them. I think they would be spooked.
