This is a world where Mark Gasnier and Braith Anasta work TOGETHER on TV.
But Gasnier and Anasta had far more superior NRL careers to Beau (both won premierships and played rep football for both state and country)...and that's all that matters in sports media in this country. If you are someone who has neither played the game nor reached a very high level in the sport you played in, it is nearly impossible to get a sports broadcasting job in this country (compared to USA, where most of their sports broadcasters are people who have studied journalism and broadcasting in university (i.e. they have the qualifications)). This is especially true for sports like cricket, where 99% of commentators are all ex-international players who had a long, distinguished career and only a small % like Jim Maxwell, Harsha Bhogle never played the game (let alone at a high level). Just take a look at the Ch9 commentary team and you'll see what I mean
