Fitzgibbon signs with Hull
Saturday, May 16, 2009
Roosters veteran Craig Fitzgibbon has announced that he has signed with Hull for the 2010 season.
The deal, one year with an additional one year option, will see Fitzgibbon finish his stellar career in the UK.
He broke the news to his team mates after the game against the Newcastle Knights.
A clearly emotional Fitzgibbon said while he was happy to have his future decided, he was sad to leave the Club he has spent the last 11 years with.

sad to see him go. he has been such a big part of our club.

It is sad to see him go, been a great servant to the club no doubt.

I thought it was inevitable that we'd let him go, he deserves the big pay packet over there.

Hopefully we can move on from this.. we now need a work horse, on the bright side.. perhaps we might see our centres get the ball more :(

What a legend he's been for us.

He was probably our best player tonight, ran hard and and tackled like it was his last.

I always admired Craig even though he is a rooster. Will be sad to see him go. Will be a real loss to you folks. I'd hope you go on a shopping spree for next year. Mason and O'Meley are way past it. and with Tupou leaving last year too you are lacking mobility and decent go forward in your pack. Nate Myles is about the only forward with Craig that is showing real ticker. You's can't win games if your pack doesn't perform. Spectators need to get off Pearce & Anasta's backs too a little. While they may be partly to blame It's mighty hard to produce "the goods" when a forward pack is well and truly beaten.

Exactly mate. I don't know what forwards are "on the market" I'm not that much of a close-eye spectator of the market. We need mobility. That doesn't mean moving centres to second row.

Fitzgibbon is more than a player. He is an asset to our game. A legend on and off the field.

I hope he didn't watch Hull vs the Wire last Saturday, he may be having second thoughts!! :D

Another super league team getting an Aussie who is looking for a big pay day before he retires, the franchise system is working a treat!! :(

Agree, champion player.

How long is Fitzy out for at the moment, and who will do the kicking do you think, Anasta or Kenny-Dowall?

This week, and possibly next week

Anasta will kick. He kicked our only conversion last week, after Fitzgibbon went down injured

When you talk about the Roosters of the last 10 years, his name will be one of the first to come up. One club legend, and deserves whatever accolades he gets.

Why would you care if it's about money?

Fitzgibbon's time has come. As great as he is and as much as I love him it really is time for the future. The slower paced ESL is perfect for him.
