Fitzy not up to the job

Sorry but Fitzy is just not up to it. Good short kicking game - and that gets overdone - but long kicking is very poor. Against Cowboys some of them were embarrassing. Ability to break the line was non-existent. Sad but cant see a place for him next season even on the bench.

I agree tamazoid that he has some sort of talent but I really doubt whether he is good enough for first grade. he is far too indecisive on the field and absolutely kills opportunities with his sideways running. His long kicking is poor but I suppose he never has been expected to kick so that isn't too much of a problem. If all players were available I wouldn't play fitzy next year.

And what about his tackling technique??Straight out of the Buddha textbook.Fitzy is an imposter and must go IMHO.

I hate players that dont put their bodies on the line and he is a serial offender.Goooorne.....

He is in the same boat as Mick Beuttner. He is an outside back, not a 5/8. he is a runner, not an organiser. Therein lies the problem. Not next year, thankfully.

Fitz will end up back at center next year where he belongs. He wont have to kick, set up trys and everything else he had to do. All he will need to do is run off Marshall, Reynolds and Prince passes. Everyone with a memory will know how good he can be at that.

All respect to Fitzhenry, who has been a revelation for us - but if he takes Wilson's spot, Im not going to be happy.

We should play heaps of trial games in the offseason, we have plenty of possibles in most positions and i think how players combine with other players will decide who makes the original starting side.

So what are options in centre:
Wilson (assuming he is re-signed)
Halatau
Fitzhenry
Buettner
Elford

I don't think it works like that westie. you can't judge a combination on one match. team combinations can take an entire season to develop and because one combination doesn't work for one match doesn't mean that pairing should be ruled out. Trial matches have very little bearing on the season westie, they are besically to warm the side up for the regular season. Figuring out combinations has to be left to the regular season.

Harrison
they seem to be grooming him for lock but he'll debut as a centre and probably take things from there.

I don't see a place for either buettner or Fitzy next season. That is some pretty good depth out wide.

I really hope we get a couple more front rowers though. That'll be our wekness next season, i think.

I don't see any room for Buettner thats for sure!

Fitzy maybe as an interchange player because he can cover a few positions hooker, halves, fullback and center

On the Prop situation that has become even more of a concern with Payten now out for the season and having screws put into his toe joints which isn't good especially for a prop.

Which is why I said play a few games. Combos will develop at training and can be assesed in a game situation up at gosford or wherever we play.

you don't play lots of trials for the reason that there are 26 rounds to play after the trials. The beggining of the season is used to test combinations. trials are a warm up and aren't a very good way of testing performances of players. It is mainly to decide which players to release and which to hold on to.

I think Sheens has decided which players will released and held on to by now.
