Interesting news this week that the NRL is "set to smash revenue and profit forecasts and post a huge surplus of more than $50 million in 2018, fuelled by its massive broadcast deal and better-than-expected commercial income."
Yes’m, things have never been better financially, with the governing body’s revenue set to top $530 million – a rise of nearly $200 million on last year.

"We will beat expectations and exceed our budget," NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg told
The Australian. "Our non-broadcast income has been strong for us and we’ve had double-digit growth across all categories in that space, which shows we have a strong executive team."
So, with everything going so well for this sporting business, perhaps the NSW Government could tell us taxpayers why, exactly, we are the ones paying to renew their key infrastructure of stadiums, and build their centres of excellence?
Go on, tell us, just for a laugh.

And there really are two things I don’t understand. The first is the obvious: why blokes go that far. And the second thing is what the hell the coach and manager, who were with them at the time, were THINKING??? Was there not the tiniest alarm bell ringing at the time along the lines of, "Gee, this is getting a bit out of hand, maybe I better do something?"
