Favourite comment was , they dressed up as Jarryd Hayne and Josh Giddey in the hope that someone in Sydney would recognise them.
Fair enough really.

He is a wanker for sure but playing and visiting European cities would be more exciting than playing in Canberra or Townsville etc. The small matter of playing union part is the problem with his argument though.
Sydney is a pretty great city to live, especially if you are earning over $1M per year

Professional athletes don't visit cities during a season

They get in a plane, get off a plane, arrive at a venue, do warm up drills, go through physio, play a game, have further physio, have controlled meals, sleep in a hotel room and wake up for their next plane trip
Yep and then Cleary uses his millions to go to the UK and f**k Mary for a month in the off season. Pete thinks rich Rugby League players can't leave the country

You should have heard what is was like when Rogers and Sailor first joined RU. All the vested interests tried to talk it up, but the reality sucked.

Thus was Super12, probably the peak of the comp. They'd play a round robin

In Australia or NZ, other than Sydney Brisbane and Auckland ....

They leave the stadium at 11pm and live up the night life of Canberra, Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Hamilton until they go. to bed 😄 😄

There were 4 SA teams, so they'd always schedule so they'd play 2 of them in consecutive weeks

It was heavily armed guards everywhere, they'd only travel to and from the hotel, practice field and stadium, before they're whisked off after 8 days in SA

All this for no ratings and half empty stadiums

Also today in the quotes section:
Wendell Sailor: reportedly, to the police about to arrest him for allegedly assaulting patrons and bar staff at a city bar on Wednesday evening: “Do you know who I am?” . The former NRL player was reportedly charged with five offences, including common assault.

I only mention this because in any other circumstance Sailor would be a Wallaby

So there we have it, the worst sports disaster of 2024 (actually the second after Raygun) was the Las Vegas Season Opener. Oh, and by the way, the best sports moment and, arguably the best game played in any team sport in all time, was The Wallabies defeat of England.
