The way that I look at it is that Gould has now got his foot in the door at the J.V. Great , his first action has been successful - he has signed up a very capable coach who CAN do the job required to get the Dragons from the bottom end of the ladder . Of course he is ONLY the assistant and nothing more - there have been limitations placed upon him and you can bet your bottom dollar that he will be closely monitored in that respect.

So where does that leave us , with our Mary for a part of 2020 or at the most the entire season , perhaps being replaced by Dean Young at some stage . However they will undoubtedly seek a reduction in Flanagans ban towards the latter part of next year . In the meantime Gould will begin to cut out the deadwood from the team , so as come season 2020 there is a likelihood of having Flanagan as the top grade coach and also a few new faces in the playing ranks , players that have a measure of quality about them .

Of course there are a few ‘ ifs ‘ and ‘ buts ‘ involved , however imho that scenario would be pretty close to the mark .
All in all there is definitely movement at the station - and in the right direction , thank goodness.

I’d rather someone that can take over in a year at least. And someone not caught multiple times cheating.

At least Flanagan has apologised.
In truth, McGregor been cheating the club & us fans for many years and is still getting away with it.

We can only hope Vlandy pardons Flanagan after six rounds and he become the only coach.

That train I told you that was coming.
Is still coming but unfortunately it is all station and delayed.
But it will make it to the station eventually

I hope it happens and we can start enjoying our footy again.
Regardless of what McGregor says, everyone at the press conferences will know it is Flannagan's influence that has turned our fortunes around.
Having said that, we just don't have the cattle to be top 4 next year.
I think our halves are too inconsistent to mount a serious finals challenge.
Our much vaunted pack now holds no fear for any team we play.
These two issues are big obstacles in terms of our ladder position in 2020.
I'm more worried about the pathetic 1-5 rather than the 6-13

I am happy with the Flanagan appointment if its true, the Board was never going to remove the current coach so I see this is a positive. Flanagan knows the players he has to work with so if he takes the job I believe he thinks he can change attitudes and introduce deadwood to the new CC coach. Time will tell but apart from sacking the current coach this is one of the best options IMO.

It looks like Flanno will be our future first grade coach.
Can't see that at all.
This announcement is diabolical as it guarantees Mc Gregor at minimum 2 more years.
In that time Flanno will have suitors chasing him as he nears his enforced time out.
Mid season 2021 the announcement will be
We had Shane lined up to take over from Mc Gregor and that plan was endorsed by Gus during the 2019 review.
Unfortunately Shane has done such a good job here that Penrith / Wests Tigers have put up an offer that we cannot match.
In light of that we feel that Paul has developed extremely well working with Shane and a such we will extend him for 2 years to build on the stability Gus said we need to have at the club.
