Flanno's New Signings

I noticed from the day Flanno was signed, and every time something controversial happens in one of Flannos press conferences, that Gould always has the worst take on it.. that plus his absense of words on anything around Shane and his coaching speaks volumes.. the 2 do not like eachother.

We f***ed up Latu though, I mean there are always outside factors with any player signing.. and maybe his manager could have also made it easier for us... and ensured we had a genuine last reply... but once the kids heart is set its over really.. we move on, but definitely still hurting me.. that plus assume Sione is next.. bumming me out that 2 of the better prospects, 3 with tamale have all gone in a 12month period... all in positions we are screaming out for quality in first grade (athletic wingers and props).
What is the point in playing Latu in any grade anymore, if dragons cant offload him now make him peel oranges for the rest of the season

There will always be players leaving clubs at the end of seasons for different reasons.

Much as we all hate what's happened, the coaches need to continue to pick teams they think will give them the best chance of winning. If Flanagan genuinely thinks Latu can win us a game at NRL level this year I hope he picks him because I want to win as many games as possible.

Latu chose the Dogs apparently as being better for his development. A club that has more turnover than any other. What a joke that is. Good to see how well Pangai Jnr, Averillo, Amaroti etc developed under this club. 1 bad game and your out.

Latu needs to make sure he is a good trainer, if not be on time or else they will find a way to break him or simply throw him to the curb.

Gus has so much power especially when he controls all forms of the media. My skin crawls when he boasts how much he loved going to watch the Dragons games as a kid because he was a fan. This to hide the fact he despises the Dragons more than any club. He has thrown more barbs at the Saints than no other.

I reckon we direct our criticism not at Gould but at those in charge who could have brought him in full time in 2020 as GM of our club. Phil walked in and out of club and nothing good to say about how things are done.

Since then they've sacked another two and we still seem as dysfunctional as always....and in the background we lose our best junior, roosters just borrow the qld orgin halfback to help their cause just as they did in 2018 to snare a couple of comps, our opponents this weekend go from strength to strength to grab a great forward from England for next year...etc etc. If Gould was to walk in to our club today with no CEO, no apparent head of recruitment he would only say we've gone backwards and it would be hard to argue.

Shane Flanagan will leaves us soon for something better. Stick that in the Watch this Space thread.

There needs to be some separation between the coach & recruitment. You can't expect the coach to recruit for long term interests when his contract ends in 1yr. They should work collaboratively but someone or a recruitment team is needed to focus on the long term vision of the roster. Flanno has had some success & also some failures with recruitment but it's not sustainable.

If Shane could put all his focus on the team like I say Bellamy, Robbo, Cleary and probably what most other coaches do and not worry about recruitment, then the team would surely play better each week. Having Shane involved in everything just does not seem reasonable. Apparently Des Hasler is a control freak and does everything and how are the Titans going. Recruitment is great but performances are lacking big time.

You simply need 1 person for recruitment and the other to just run the team. All Flanno has to say is I need a big bopper and the recruitment guys brings them in and Flanno makes the call if he is a good fit for the team. That is all Flanno needs to do. If the recruitment guy can not provide a list of players for him to choose from or not get the guy to sign once Flanno gives the ok, then he simply is not doing his job and should be booted. Shanes objective is to win games (KPI based on performance) and the recruitment guy is to look after the squad of players and ensure the team is competitive (KPI based on squad strength).

No excuses can hide the fact we have hardly improved this year. Look at des, multiple premiership winner looks like getting the sack soon. It's a ruthless business and Flanno will be next if we don't get many more wins on the board that's just the reality of it. Easy to coach when half your squad do all the coaching for you like 2016.. call me a Flanno hater but if you would go back I have been full of support since he signed up until this year Anzac day, if you can't get your team up 2 years in a row in arguably our most important game in the regular season there is something not right

Let’s be honest here , the player wanted to go where he thought he would develop the best. A struggling club that has mediocrity as it’s Moto or the Dirty Dogs who have recruited very well, sit on top of the ladder and have Gould. Can’t really blame him can you.
Yes.

Funny thing is if Flanno gets the boot and 1 of the new up and coming coaches like Rylescome in, they will probably get rid of guys like Gutho, Holmes and Cook which is what Flanno was banking on getting them to a comp and why he brought these older guys in. The new coaches want young, quick and enthusiastic players ahead of experienced.

They will probably get rid of Kyle and Illias as well. The new guys don't have much tolerance or patience for players out of form.

If I was part of the coaching staff I would be $hitting myself with a new CEO coming on board. He may hopefully be a guy that has no patience to wait and want instant success.
