Flanno's New Signings

I'm hoping that Flanno next signings are Hass and Katoa.

Yes, I agree. To me it seems that Flanno understands Klemmer and was able to give Klemmer the mission he is most comfortable with.

Klemmer a great buy for the Saints and a great replacement for F Molo. If he continues wit this form, I would love to see him given a contract extension.
Possm I think you can put a line Katoa, he’s already came out and stated the return to Sydney talk as garbage and that he and his family are happy at Redcliffe and he wants to re sign. That should be the end of the Katoa talk, he isn’t going anywhere.

As for Haas, even if we offered 2 mil a season I believe we have no chance. Put a line through him too, that’s the reality unfortunately

Klemmer > Frank Molo

Did Frank ever produce a game like Klemmer's the other night? If Klem can replicate that quantity and quality consistently, not only is a huge upgrade on Molo, but imo he'll deserve an extension
I think the knights pack made Klemmer look a lot better than he actually is. Remember before that game he hadn't actually ran for more than 100 meters in a game for us.

You're right that he needs to replicate it consistently, however to say he is better than Molo after one decent game and whole bunch of subpar ones, is a HUGE call and certainly not an accurate one.

Exactly this. Katoa is zero chance and is signed to the Phins 'till '28.

Landing Haas would be equivalent to Prince of Penzance winning the Melbourne Cup.

Ok.

I was unaware of this as I had heard the Katoa rumour to return and he would be a good get.

As for Haas, if we could accommodate his family needs then we should absolutely try to get him.

Perhaps he's had enough of the superstar teams like the Broncos and would prefer a team that plays for each other.

To simply give up and take the attitude that we have no chance is just a flat out defeatist attitude regardless of whether or not you think it's unlikely.

He seems a pretty humble bloke.

Show him some love, and the promising youth we have coming through and perhaps being a mentor might something that appeals to him.

Along with a monster offer of course!

You never know, Prince of Penzance won after all...

That's my point.

PoP won against the odds (hence the reference) so maybe we could as well. Having a CEO now and maybe some co-ordination amongst the recruitment team, it isn't an impossible task.

What I would like to say about a guy like Payne Haas and other alpha props of similar ilk coming to the club is -

First of all, players like Payne, AFB, JFH and so on, are making things tough for the opposition to combat that is for sure.

Secondly, these alpha props are a pricey commodity. However, they are worth it.

Thirdly, if the squad works well all of the time with an alpha prop there is every chance that the club would be playing finals/ grand finals - JFH has had that experience many times and won the grand final 4 times in a row, Haas has been in finals and a losing grand final game in 2023 and AFB appeared in 3 finals matches for different clubs.

Fourthly, going from what I have said, a great alpha would essentially help us make finals footy but its no use having an alpha if the rest of the team do not pitch in and play tough every week. We are nearly there with our current crop and having an enforcer in the team will no doubt be what we need to get us over that final hurdle and into the finals consistently.

Apologies, I misread the tone of your post.

I agree though, non-fancied clubs have landed big signings in the past.

Burton to dogs and Lui to tigers are just a couple off the top of my head...

Until they are signed, I don't believe we should put a red line through any. Better money and a move could be just the trick, no matter what they are saying now.

I would have 100% agreed with you 4-6 weeks ago but the Broncos are an absolute basket case and in a dire Salary cap situation. It is more than possible that Haas leaves though very doubtful to us - Aghhhhh!

We recently belted the Broncos and if we win against the Dolphins, we should be in the race to sign both. Of course it depends on who is doing the talking for us. key talking points:
Our young forwards coming through.
A marquee forward - Hass
A marquee halfback - Katoa
Our current position on the ladder
We should have a very competitive team next season.

And yes, a block of flats and Taasmania.

He sure is!
About 35 years ago I met my birth mother.

When she found out I was a Dragons supporter she told me that her cousin married Johnny King. She ensured I was invited to an extended family function where I met Johnny. What a gentleman. He certainly enjoyed talking rugby league, especially the Dragons and his fellow team mates.

I asked him about his controversial and match-winning try of 1963

He looked me at me, smiled, and said “I played the whistle, and the referee awarded the try” I’m sure I saw a twinkle in his eye.

So, technically, I am a distant blood relative of Max King.

My mother also claims I am a distant relative of Isaah Yeo.

I think Yeo’s great, or great great uncle, is also Johnny King

I’ll have to confirm they are both from the same side of the family

Stay tuned
Stay tuned?

Well Yeo and King are not related

in fact it was my Mothers husband who was the cousin of Johnny Kings wife

I.E I have no blood links whatsoever, but I will always be grateful that the relationship got me an audience with the Great Johnny King.

On a side note - yeo's great x 3 or 4, grandmother, was my mothers Auntie Anne

Yep - Me and Isaac are like brothers (lol)

Flannagan needs to have a sit down with the new CEO and push for:
A new GM
A new Recruitment Manager
Two marquee player signings; Hass and Katoa

Do what every other club does but do it better.

Saints have no chance of getting Haas. He will stay in Qld I feel as he has all his family there and appears to be there biggest source of support. If not Saints should throw the book at him. Worth every cent. All Flanno has to say, "remember what I achieved with Gallen and Fafita. With you I can do the same. I have form and now how to get there". The others bar Bellamy, Robbo, Cleary and Bennett only can do the same. Madge is out of the picture seeing Haas is at the Broncs now. Hasler is the only threat but he is on thin ice I feel.

Max King is the guy Saints should go hard for now. Dogs are buying all these players and the cap must surely be pretty thin with funds. Leo Thompson going there next season. Sexton is on peanuts and Mahoney on 650 apparently. King is worth around 800k and I feel can price the Dogs out of keeping him. Plus he made Origin so NRL would expect him to be worth more. He is currently on 350-450k. Preston also on the market and he is on 350-450k. They will or dare I say should struggle to keep both on 750k each so 1 will go and I feel they will rather Preston. Max King is a more realistic target. King and LPT will be solid bookends for 2026.

100% AGREE Payne Hass is a leader and what he does for his siblings is a credit to the young man he is and to his family .
A must signing to the Dragons for our young talented forwards needs a leader up from for years to come.

zilch chance I'm afraid.

Given he has family in prison in SE QLD, I'd say if he left the Drongos it would be to either Deadcliffe or the Tits.
But it wouldn't make any difference if he went to Zimbabwe; his mum is staying right where she is! At least now he knows where to find her.
