Yep. Such a good guy with a squeaky clean image. Totally surprised by this, especially the money players earn in a career. The last bloke I would have suspected to be 'allegedly' involved in that.

Former sharks star in major drug bust
...is what I expected to read.
Let's all be honest - this could have happened to dozens, if not hundreds of people in the game. When you have a fair bit of disposable income, and you're looking to match the euphoria of playing in front of big crowds every week (especially in off-seasons and after careers) drugs are the obvious choice.
There's a big name in NZ who is in league circles who is currently hanging onto name suppression for a similar thing.
There's using and there's dealing.
Using I can see - why some players sadly fall into using (if not already using during playing days)... I can only think that dealing comes with trying to supplement the huge drop-off in income when a player retires to sustain a lifestyle.
Either way - it's a slippery slope which will ultimately spell peril. Like others - I'm just gobsmacked it's a guy like this. Not that I'd think other players are more likely to do it - just that this bloke is one of the most unassuming (former) NRL players there is, and with a career after footy already locked in with the Titans - all now up in smoke.

Former Parramatta Eels prop Aukuso Junior Paulo has been sentenced to 17 years in jail, with a non-parole period of 11 years and four months after a botched million-dollar drug deal in 2017.
The 36-year-old attended Downing Centre District Court on Monday having been convicted of several charges, including commercial drug supply, dealing with the proceeds of crime and possession of guns.
Paulo and his co-offender were arrested in Centennial Park in December, 2017. They were found to be in possession of two pistols and almost $650,000 in cash.
The Daily Telegraph reported the court heard the pair went to the popular Sydney location to meet an undercover police officer on behalf of a liaison known as ‘Peking Duck,’ who had planned to purchase 900kg of cocaine worth $1 million over two meetings.
They were met by police officers who fired nonlethal rounds to their van.
Judge Anthony Townsend believed Paulo and his co-accused played smaller roles than Peking Duck, but said they were still part of the crime.
“In the present case, the amount of drugs to be received was very significant and was for financial gain,” he said.
“Each of the offenders played a central role in arranging to take receipt of the drug.”
Paulo played his last NRL game in 2008 before retiring due to injury. He then struggled with drinking and gambling problems.
A handwritten letter from Paulo was given to the court in which Paulo said he had a “difficult and dysfunctional upbringing.”
He will be eligible for parole in 2029.

I love how the police are talking about disrupting the supply into Byron with these arrests. There are f**king bikies everywhere up there but flash and a few people in their twenties are the real king pins.
His nickname has changed from Flash Gordon to Speed Gordon.
