Anyone got any info on him injury wise. I heard medical retirement mentioned. Damn I hope not, and I hope the person that suggested it had a big night prior. Which is highly likely.

Strange.

I have been told that everything went well. I know someone that would know. I won't go further.

Every time I asked, it was very positive.

I love that bloke, he oozes effort, reminds me of a young Liam martin,

Edit: sorry was talking about the wrong tom,
Gilbert was who I was thinking about, how's he going?

Should be ready for a round 1 return. He is back into contact training.

Dolphins have been so patient
He’s on big money and they never considered medically retiring him yet

One of the best props in the game prior to his injury. He along with Farnworth were massive signings for 2024.

They'd look a much better side with Flegler and Saifiti starting.

He might never recover to be able to play again or if he does be a shadow of his past form

If they medically retired him insurance covers the payout and he’s taking up a lot of salary cap space

He is 25 years old at 100 games. Prior to his injury one of the best props in the game. You give a guy like that a chance at recovery.

Its only been 1 year as well. 6th April 2024 his injury occurred. Medical retirement will be easy to achieve if he doesn't make it back.

Dolphins are crazy not medically retiring him

It’s a huge part of their salary cap

If he doesn’t make it bald this off season then they have to cut him loose

Sounds promising

‘What if I don’t come back?’ Tom Flegler provides raw update on devastating nerve injury image
Dolphins forward Tom Flegler has spoken at length on the rare and complex nerve injury that has crippled his rugby league career.

Interviewed on Fox Sport’s Face-to-Face, 25-year-old Flegler relived the moment that stopped his 100-game NRL career in its tracks in Round 5 of 2024—while reaffirming his determination to return the field.

“I made a tackle and had a sublux (partial dislocation) in my shoulder, I stretched the nerve and unfortunately it never came back,” Flegler explained.

“I waited six months hoping it would get better naturally without surgery, but that didn’t happen so I went in and got a nerve transplant from my rear tricep.”

“The surgery has worked, it is starting to heal, but there are a few more hurdles to overcome before we can put a timeframe on when I’m going to play again,” he continued.

‘It’s hard going to training’

While Flegler is back to normal training with the Dolphins in the gym and on-field running drills, he’s yet to start contact work.

“It’s not to say that I can’t do contact, we just want to give my shoulder the biggest chance to recover,” he said.

“It’s hard going to training knowing you’re not going to play at the end of the week.

“You just have to stay focused and try to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

This time last year that light seemed a long way away for the former Tully Tigers junior.

“Going back pre surgery it was a thought that I’d had (that I may not play again),” Flegler admitted.

“When you have an injury like this reality sets in a bit, you have to think about things you don’t want to think about.

“What if I don’t come back? There’s always a chance.

“But with how I’m training and how things are coming along, I can’t see myself not playing footy again.”
