I know. That's why I do question what the point of us in trying to have rights at the Adelaide Oval would be? If we are going to spread the game, then wouldn't a stadium built for rugby/rugby league/football be better?

There's more chance of Osama Bin Ladin converting to Judaeism in a New York Synagogue next weekend than a purpose built League stadium in Adelaide. It would be the biggest waste of money ever. If there is any hope for League, it revolves around the one ground that croweaters will go to. Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide needs a decent rectangle stadium They have an Aleague team and if they want to keep pace with other cities then they have to be thinking about an NRL or S16 team eventually.

That Cowboys v Sharks game barely drew 7k, and proved that Adelaide was pretty useless as a potential home base for an NRL side compared to other options.

.

Manly 6,100 at tonights game:roll:

Keep ignoring a city and you can't expect a god given right for people to turn up when you deem them worthy of a game once a year.

The hard part with adel is its a small city with limited $$. Unfortunately the Adel Crows AFL side attracts most of the sponsorship $$ etc, clubs like Adel United in the A-League and Port Power in the AFL are struggling to survive financially.

There was talk of another multi purpose stadium being built which would be for sports like lacrosse, hockey, soccer, league and union at the Victoria Pk Racecourse which is smack bang in the middle of the clipsal track, but im not sure if that is happening now the Adel Oval redevelopment has been approved.

LOL well it felt like more than 7k
Besides limited media coverage and promotion, i doubt half of Adel even knew about the game!

And really for a state with no national side, a local comp that is struggling something fierce and in a state that is pro AFL, i think 7k is a pretty good turn out.

Sadly given the NRL's track record for work (or lack of) in affiliated states I fear it will be alot longer than that.

I wouldn't call a city of 1.2million small.

LOL

A Rothfield article says "we hear that.." and the usual suspects go nuts.

Talk about paranoid.

Appears from the two articles that they are simply upgrading the existing stadium that will benefit whoever plays there.

One would hope that if and when we get an NRL side in Adelaide they play out of a specifically made venue and not a cricket ground.
