Plenty of council meetings but no sign of development talk.

This would be our delmege money but better if we ever get it going to whatever capacity.

I wouldn't say I can decipher company reports all that well but it looks like the club took out a 1 million bank overdraft this year. Does anyone else see it like that?

Also don't forget the potential payout to Ando, it could be up to 1.3 million plus legal costs.

I hear what you are saying re. marketting being a costly part of any compmany Reefy, and I woulnd't care if they spent double the current $2mil on it to be honest, AS LONG AS WE GET VALUE FOR MONEY !

If we werre getting $2mil worth of marketting then it wouldnt be an issue because that would be coming back thru the gates and bars TEN FOLD. But plainly we are not getting anywhere near $2mil worth from our marketting team, and when a team fails, the coach and players need changing.

I reckong the marketting team and coach need changing.

Brian Smith couldnt do a better job of over spending for worse results !

Well, my concerns have more to do with the lame game-day efforts and the HUGE marketing bill, without the Richard Fisk/Shane Richardson-style SHOWTIME that set new standards for the NRL in the late 90s.

$2M??? They don't friggin' DO anything! Come on, don't tell me Glenn Wheeler was charging us THAT much for his gig...Or his shirts!

One more point - I hardly think our marketing gurus had alot to do with nailing the LG sponsorship, that would have been handled by our control freak board.

Even BP couldn't spend $2M on trying to lure sponsors.

Although, he IS the type of bloke who would throw $2M at a potential sponsor in order to get them to sign a $1M deal... :?: :?: :?: :?

I'm not sure what you are getting at, maybe suggesting that our marketting team have secured LG, so that they are going okay ?

Fari enough, yes, LG are a good sponsor ( we let pepsi go in order to obtain them), however it costs NOTHING to keep them as a sponsor, their name on the strip and a few catering bills for their boxes, but that's it.

My point is, $2mil has been spent each year SINCE LG were on board, and it's being wasted.

You can't say that for sure without knowing the breakdown of the expenditure and having something to compare it to.

Anyone who has read my posts before would know I'm no fan of our admin or marketing.

Personally I think comparing the drop between what was a good year the year before, and an abysmal year on and off the field last year, that the result was pretty good.

I personally thought it would have been more from my feel of the crowds and the queues at the bar and inevitably the trough as a result of the bar.

Maybe it wasnlt all a result of the marketing but the info at hand is pretty thin.

All in all I was pleasently surprised at the reports.

Goes along with all of the recent reports on rugby leagues bad image.
Supposedly league has benefited greatly from all of the dramas.
The old any publicity is good publicity.
Perhaps Ando wasn't that bad for the club after all?
