For f**ks sake

I just can't get over how he couldn't convert that Tuqiri try. Why the huge wind up and then major follow through on the ball teed up horizontally. Just tee it vertically like a kick off and take 2 steps into it. It's not f**king rocket science.

At this stage I would bring Mullaney in, play him on the wing instead of Fitzhenry if they are worried about him at the back, but his 70ish% kicking is a hell of alot better than Benji's 50ish%

I watched most of the 20s yesterday, Mullaney goal kicking was worse than Benjis. I wouldn't be bringing him into the team for goal kicking.

Goalkicking is a major problem for us.

Been saying that for a while now. Benji is not the answer but Teflon seems incapable of trying anyone else. No amount of coaching can make a natural goal kicker. Coaching can turn someone in to an adequate kicker eg as a stand-in but not one's first choice kicker. WT lack that first choce and have since Hodgson left.

Unless the team itself is coached / whacked over the head to try to in all circumstances mark the ball for the try as close as possible to the posts to make it easier for the 'stand in' kicker WT are more often than not, going to score 4 points for the try and not 6 including the conversion. Doesnt matter too much each game as long as WT score more tries than the opposition and dont give away too any penalites but at the end of year when for and against comes into play rnaking every possible point / goal count is an essential.

I think WT recruiting for team structure and roles may have dropped the ball on that one. A fail mark for Teflon in 2010 regarding his new WT team after the clean out.

Mullaney ROFLMAO.

He is the worst defender in an NYC side and his goal kicking isn't that great without the pressure of kicking for an NRL team

We were AWESOME in D- the ref and bounce of the ball + injuries cost us ...but our D was first class until we were rooted

Having now watched the game i agree with your sumary, we just had nothing in the tank to build momentum for our attack. I do think the benji miss at goal would have zapped more out of them knowing they needed to score twice.

We'd have been routed by a good team last night. That doesn't take away from some great last ditch tackles from plenty of guys... but Kimmorley and Roberts were incompetent. I'm a fan of both, but Roberts couldn't exploit Lazurus with J. Morris outside him and Kimmorley consistently chose the wrong option. There was a 5th tackle where Goodwin was jogging on the spot with Lazurus at least 10 metres in field and they just didn't see the kick. A bomb was unnecessary, it could have just been chipped. That's not to mention the myriad knock ons from the Dogs, especially their half.

If we hadn't signed Tuqiri, Krisnan Inu could've been one of our off-season priorities. One of the best goalkickers going around, and a very hand player in the same regard. Should be playing in the Eels first 17 and would make just about every other club's.

Absolutely. The Dogs were a complete rabble. Yes we came up with some heartening defence but how many cracks did they have at our line and how many simple mistakes did they make before they finally broke through?

They were bad, but we were an absolute disgrace. How many golden opportunities did we gift them? How many times did our attack crumble when we needed it most? How badly do we need Tim Moltzen back?

Honestly, I think we lost it when Turner tackled Marshall without the ball. It was a bit like that Origin game where Hayne got dudded by the video ref on a great piece of play down the sideline. We score - we go on with it. We don't score, we get side-tracked, we never really get back on the horse...

I disagree about the kick and regather debacle with Marshall, we still had our chances and scored later on.

What killed us was Benji's kick missing from 12m out and like 4m left of the uprights. The player were probably on a high after that, they thought we could maybe pull off an upset, but they just fell apart after the kick missed. We were more than a score behind, and some of them probably though if they scored twice they wouldn't be in front, instead locked at 12-12. We seriously need to address that, anyone but Benji.

Sure, but I think it has a significant impact on the mood of the game. If we'd have got a penalty for it, maybe that would have been a different story... But it's a good indicator of where things went wrong for us - we missed an opportunity to score points, and then just kept waiting for the ref to let us back into the game. We got frustrated when it became clear he wasn't going to, but by then we'd run out of tricks...

Inu should be priority number 1 on the recruitment side of things for next year - release players if you have to, but get this kid in our team kicking goals.

As an impartial observer, how is it that this standard of refereeing is acceptable?

The first half scrum play that saw Marshall down the left - he's nowhere near the ball and gets drilled by the winger, which is a least a professional foul. Nine times out of ten Marshall scores that try or they score on the next play.

Game changer.

Yet the ref, two touch judges and the eye in the sky don't pick it up.

wtf?

The tackler knew exactly what he was doing on that play so no excuses there.

Penalty try anyone?

Betfair had over 70 grand riding on this game and we're supposed to just sit there and take it because Jared Maxwell has a confidence problem.

Ye Gods.

Yeah the game changed - we would have won by 60 if Benji scored that try :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:
