At the time I could never understand why we got rid of Talakai. Was a standout in Cup in a position he’d only learnt, was capable at NRL level with South’s and we weren’t exactly stacked with explosive type backrowers/players.

Other than his high bombs this year burton has been very average at best... i know he just put the icing on the cake than for JAC but any half couldve done that. Was on a platter.

Always thought hes best spot is lock or 2md row in the future. Given the way he played last year at centre i think its hard to argue atm hes just at his best when he is running the ball..

I know the dogs arent panthers but theres enough talent there... hes just not delivering atm..

Most weeks they get in good positions but last tackle options and passing choices are poor by him.

Hes best assest is his running game. He loses that when he plays half as it seems his first focus is to play make...

Hoping he can prove me wrong. I know hes not gunna play anywhere else for the dogs but i think bennett could turn him into the best lock in the game. Even better than yeo. He has the passing and kicking skills plus the speed and running game to be so good playing that yeo role..

Certainly not as strong defensivley but i think that kind of role suits his skills more.

Mate you bagged luai hard for half a season..

Burtons been average. Its just a fact.

Hes bombs have been great...

The rest is as i said.. extremley poor last tackle options, whether it be kicks or passes or getting tackled.

No real creativity.. poor options and no direction.

Hes a good player... im not doubting his skills..

Ive just always believed hes at his best when hes sole focus is on running the ball.. always have thought hes best spot would be lock or 2nd row.. but last year he carved up at centre.. way more dominant at centre than he was in the halfs albeit without nath and a few others..

Glad luai is our 6 thats for sure. This wasnt meant to be a luai vs burton post but luai has been brilliant this year and burton hasnt.. two different teams i know but luai just compliments nath so well.

Id take burts back in a heart beat but hes future isnt in the 6. The way the modern game is he could be way way way more influential in the 13..

I'd listen to an argument he's a centre at this stage but hes not a forward. Simply ridiculous
Hes 1.9m tall... 96kgs and a shitload of filling out to do..

The reality is he will have to stay off the weights to stay below 100 easy...

If he hits the weights he will be 102 easy... if a club wants him to he could hit 104 105kgs...no dramas. Yeo is 106 and is almost 8 years in the nrl..

The modern game 13 role is perfect for burto.

You loving him so much and hating on luai might blind your judgement but its clear with the start to the year the dogs have had..

Hes a great player but hes skills arent being used properly.

Dont be hasty your boy burto has been shithouse..

You bagged luai every week for 15 weeks.

Youve defended burton and frothed over him so much its laughable..

Hes been poor.. very..

Luai isnt burton..they are completley different players.

Im glad we picked luai..

Id have loved to kept burton but as we have seen... not at 6.

Fox sports commentators summing burto up. Basically saying he just needs to run.....

Hes much much better when thats hes main goal..cant do that in the 6. Thats all im saying smug.

Luai won the spot and has done well. The last I bagged him was when he and Burton played together and Luai was utter trash. Burton will be better for this hard year and will be fine. Trent won't see out the year and the Dogs will be better when he's replaced with anyone else.

I think it more off the field that was his battle.

The versatile forward debuted for South Sydney in 2016 but injuries slowed him down the following season. He departed for Penrith midway through 2018 but remained in reserve grade.

Talakai said he'd "started to crack under the pressure at Souths".

"I was very depressed and kind of fighting my own battle within myself for a few months," the 23-year-old said.

"I managed to find my feet at Penrith ... [then] I went to Newtown and kept building from there and matured a whole lot.

"I definitely know how to deal with the pressure now and I've definitely got the support that I need."
