Forward Pass

For those who whinge about the Dragons getting away with forward passes, here is the exact wording of the rules for a forward pass.

Direction of Pass

1. The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground. A player running
towards his opponents’ goal line may throw the ball towards a colleague who is behind him but because of the thrower’s
own momentum the ball travels forward relative to the ground. This is not a forward pass as the thrower has not
passed the ball forward in relation to himself. This is particularly noticeable when a running player makes a high, lobbed pass.

Just because you think a pass is forward by watching TV, it doesn't neccessarily mean it is so quit the F**king whinging

Quit thinking everyone's against you and just inciting another Dragons hate thread. Well done.

This is as good a place as any for my first post.

I usually find it reasonably straight forward (!) to identify a forward pass. In most cases the immediate trajectory from the hand is sufficiently clear and therefore you can pretty much ignore where the ball travels after that.

Not trying to incite a hate thread, nor do I think everyone is against us.

My only wish is for those who whinge realise that just because you are sitting on your fat arse and you think a pass has gone forward, it doesn't neccessarily mean it has.

Agree.
To echo the point of the OP, please see the Saints VS Eagles game day thread from Sunday.
Some of them are like a f**king chorus line.
It is particularly annoying considering, for some of them, the team they support isn't even involved in the f**king game and they can't be bothered to comment on any other facet of it.
Also, the frequency at which they post in the f**king thread leads me to believe they aren't paying that much f**king attention to it anyway.

Yeah but by starting a thread like this you're just inviting opposition fans and trolls to come in here and bag you. Overall I agree with your point, though Darius Boyd has come up with a few dubious forwards this year, but you could say the same for a lot of players from other clubs.

it is an easy thing to understand ... and to those deadbeats I can suggest a real life test ... get on a train and prise open the doors.

Just before the train passes a pole, jump out but in a slightly backward direction.

If you manage to wrap yourself around the pole then you will finally understand the pass backward float forward concept.

I am in the same boat, they make the rulings so complicated.

I would nearly pay to see Raiders_Premiers attempt this.

Stupid thread, everyone knows we always throw forward passes & the refs ensure we win by giving us a free ride.

You idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

zzz stop feeding the trolls

If the Dragons do well then the choke tag goes away. Therefore, Dragon "haters" will have to find a new, simple (this is important) tagline to adopt so they feel good about themselves. They are scared and are desperately looking for something to latch on to in the event their strike weapon is nullified.

Dragons lose = choke
Dragons win = boring, and if not, forward pass!

I know the point you're making, but at the same time people try and use Physics to justify forward passes ("You don't understand momentum") that were forward out of the hands to begin with.

You can't tell me there is not atleast 5 or 6 forward passes from dummy half every game that are not called up. The forward momentum theory doesn't work here because the ball is starting from a standing still position. It's just a pet hate of mine.

I still think cooper's try came off a forward pass from Soward.

That's true. Really, momentum only affects forward passes after a long break and a player is running at full speed. If someone is simple just running the ball up (after a play the ball) or running sideways, or forward and sideways like most halves do when in the opposition's 20, then momentum is not going to make the pass go forward.

Agree with you there.
