very happy with a lot of aspects of our game. as mentioned our main team only played the second half. the team in the first half played the whole 40 minutes and tried hard but were out classed by a roosters team chock full of first graders and representitive stars.

in the second half we moved the ball around ALOT. brought back memories of 05 in parts. al our tries apart from peni's kick and regather hd a lot of ball movement, espeically morris's one which must have gone through about 15 sets of hands.

marshall played well, as did hodsgon, gallwoway and lawrence was dangerous everytime he got the ball. our defence was still rubbish and is a major concern.

for the roosters i thought anasta, pearce, mini and tupou were all good.

both teams treated it like a trial although wests more so. if we played our full team for more then 40 mins im very confident we would won. still was good to see the cobwebs get blown out and some of the young guys get a run

Sounds like Wests took it easy first half resting their big name players and only used them for second half while Easts used their full strength team for the whole game. So thats a great effort by the Tigers to only go down by 6.

Shane Shackleton out for 4 months with a torn bicept.

Ryan O'Hara has been a garbage signing so I wouldn't be too worried If I were a Tigers fan.

Shackleton will be missed for the roosters.. goes very hard.

MILLION-DOLLAR Roosters recruit Willie Mason last night pleaded his innocence despite admitting involvement in a tackle that left Wests Tigers forward Todd Payten with severe concussion.

In a brutal Foundation Cup, Tigers coach Tim Sheens was last night counting the cost of the trial after losing both Payten and Ryan O'Hara (suspected broken jaw).

In his first match in the tri-colours since his controversial exit from the Bulldogs, Mason ensured he would dominate headlines when he was involved in a three-man tackle - with Nate Myles and Anthony Tupou - that left Payten down injured for five minutes.

Mason admitted that he was responsible for the tackle that left Payten with no memory of the incident.

"I nearly knocked myself out, I was a bit dazed, too,'' Mason said.

ROOSTERS 34 (S Kenny Dowall 3, A Minichiello, B Anasta, A Tupou tries; Roberts 5 goals) WESTS TIGERS 28 (L Fulton, C Lawrence, J Morris, P Tagive, B Marshall tries; B Hodgson 4 goals). Crowd: 15,197. Referee: S Hampstead.

I thought it was Tupou and Myles who were the dominate tacklers on Payten....

I was at this game.

The O'Hara injury seemingly came from a pretty low key tackle from my view point. I may not have fully appreciated the hit though nor did I see the replay.

Willie Mason's involvment in the Payten tackle was standard. The tackle didn't look great admittedly. If Mason weren't involved, there is no front page Sunday Telecrap story about it. I think it needs to be looked at though, don't get me wrong. I just think the Telecrap's continued petty BS gets in the way when dealing with Gould, Mason, The SMH and anyone else who they put a black line through.

It was great to be at a live game again. I took a junior rugby league team down with 10 parents and had a great night out. Kudos to both teams who took the time to sign authgraphs as well

Well, considering Gibbs was already out and we also lost Payten, our front row stocks are currently very low
O'Hara was only depth, but when thats lost along with your starters, things start to look dodgy.
Hopefully Payten only misses a week.

Hard to tell with only a long range camera shot of the Payten incident.

Mason went well for the Chooks, both teams attacked well

crowd was 15 odd k

NYC game was entertaining too.

Roosters getting a lot of raps on radio this morning despite WTs running the show last nite

One things for sure, a bit of promotion, throw in a dodgy cup and a trial suddenly becomes NRL intensity and atmosphere.
