Four Nations 2023

The countries that actually play rugby league and have domestic competitions.
It's unrealistic to include everyone, a 3 week 4 Nations is about as good as we'll get.

As Mr Potter said , Fiji and PNG could tour and help France get some games before the WC... or PNG, Cooks and Fiji could play each and give the local fans some games.

Whatever happens I just hope we get some internationals after the season.

I'd love to see NZ v Aus on Anzac day...but that's a discussion for a different thread.

We can't have a four nation without England man. They need to include England and make it a 5 nations. I can't picture a international tournament without England in it. If they have to take a team out to include England, than it'll have to be Tonga because they missed out on the semi finals of the world cup

Samoa v England instead of Tonga wouldn’t sell as well in Auckland.

Wrote this in another thread but an 8 nations makes sense to include England, Fiji, PNG and France. 5 week tournament, two pools of four nations a semi and a final. 8N would have a point of difference to the World Cup because you have guaranteed group stage blockbusters that you can schedule. Could be a real crowd puller and money spinner in both NZ and Australia plus would give Pacific nations a chance to host some matches.

Lock it in once every four years between world cups so we have a major tournament every two years.

No, it's very different as just about every pool game is a blockbuster. Besides, we need to get the best nations playing each other more often. It can only benefit the game in the long term. When we have more competitive European nations we can split into Pacific / Euro tournaments between world cups.

Should be 6 Nations.

If the tournament is being hosted in Southern Hemisphere;
Australia
NZ
England
France (hosting next world cup, need all the exposure possible).
Plus two qualifiers.

Mid year tests with winners to qualify for 6 Nations.
Samoa vs Fiji
Tonga vs PNG

If the tournament is in the Northern Hemisphere
Australia
NZ
England
France
Plus two qualifiers.

Mid year tests with winners to qualify for 6 Nations.
Lebanon vs Italy
Wales vs Ireland

Imagine making the grand final and than you have to play to qualify for the 6 Nations lol. If anything Samoa and Tonga holds all the cards at the moment. They can literally go make there own 3 game series in Auckland or Australia and every game will be a sell out. Why would they bother to play in a qualifying match

When Tonga and Samoa can start hosting matches, sure. But for the mean time, they may aswell be heritage sides produced by the NSWRL.

Is that supposed to be a insult? 😂😂😂😂 Heritage or not they're samoan at the end of the day. Unlike Kangaroos who had Sivo and England when they played Maurie Faasavalu 🤷‍♂️

England will 'more than likely' face Tonga in a three-Test series this autumn, with the Rugby Football League in advanced talks to bring Kristian Woolf's side to England later this year.

Despite reports in Australia that Tonga are being lined up to play in a Four Nations tournament, the RFL remain confident they have all-but confirmed a test series on this side of the world against high-calibre opposition at the end of the current domestic campaign. Rugby League Live understands that the finer details of a series are being finalised, with an announcement in the coming weeks.
