Frankly. About time.

NZ have shown the English their thinking re- playing internationals at small stadia has been backward.

Thank God someone was listening up there.

Play them at big venues (like the Kiwis have done with Eden Park) and, shock horror, PROMOTE THEM and you can get more than 25,000 at Wigan.

They didn't even get 25,000 at Wigan last time.

It just makes sense to play at Wembley. That in itself will afford the game and the tournament so much more publicity. It gives the ex-pat population in and around London a chance to go to the games. We saw in 2004 when 17,000 went to Loftus Road the potential for this. Plus it's another "event" style trip for northern fans. Hopefully it also means they will be day games which will make for better football and a better crowd. If the RFL was smart it would now also make that day free of any amateur football to allow people to travel. And make it affordable for people, especially families, to go. Promote it in TNT and the London freebies and get clubs in the north to seel tickets. Basically do all the cheap things they can do to promote it and make it attractive to people. And promote it with plenty of build-up in the capital that week. All four teams will be there so use them.

Best news all week...

http://www.people.co.uk/sport/other...tionals-to-return-to-wembley-102039-23032832/

October 2011

european champions WALES v world champions NEW ZEALAND

oh and also...

ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA

double header at WEMBLEY STADIUM!!!!!!

Every rugby league fan in England and Wales should get behind this so hopefully it'll be a 90,000 sell-out.

The national side has not run out at Wembley since playing as Great Britain against Australia 14 years ago.

The national side is Great Britain! England are a mere part of that!

I am not going to quibble over a couple of thousand people with you as we clearly agree on the need to use Wembley.

You got my point. I am saving the exact crowd figures for other threads...

GB does'nt exist anymore so get over it for christ sake...

as for wembley...great news...hopefully we'll price the tickets sensibly, promote the hell out of it on the london underground like we did for the 1992 RLWC final and we could get 55-60k..

i'll be going but sadly it'll mean i won't be going to the challenge cup final...can't afford to trips to london 7week apart...

Good news. Hopefully they can aim for a big crowd. It may take some good weather and support from each club to achieve a 50 000 plus crowd.

Bravo! England, a double header in a world class stadium. It gives International Rugby League the proper exposure it needs. It looks bad on television when the game is played in stadiums with the capacity of 17,000 - 24,000.

The ticket prices need to be reasonable and the coach of England needs to get his act together and have a team capable putting up a fight. I just don't want the game itself to disappoint.

Play it at Wigan and it's a Test match, play it at Wembley and it's a event..

Same as NZ playing at Eden Park. If last years match was played at Mt Smart, it would have probably got 20,000..Playing it at Eden Park gave it a Event status..

I really really really hope the poms wins this tournament, or at the very least are very competitive... we need them to perform well to start laying the seeds for the 2013 RLWC.

It would be great if we had

NZ as World Champs,
Australia as world ranked no.1,
England 4N champs, and
France/Wales as European Champs.

It would give the RFL a great platform to promote the RLWC.

Well last years double header was a great success, 44,000 2nd biggest RL crowd in New Zealand.

Wonder what sort of crowd is expected for Wembley. Over 50,000 would be good.
