1. Ensure Balmain and the Magpies retained a future in the NRL - even if it is a 50-50 JV
2. Hire Tim Sheens
3. Hire Royce Simmons
4. Discover Benji
5. Blood some great young talent in first grade this season - Farah, Halatau, Covell, Hill, Benji, etc.
6. Make some excellent signings for the 2004 season
7. Build a strong relationship with various feeder clubs and schools

Now they have to make sure that they bring along their juniors properly and don't place to much pressure on them to perform. If they have a bad game stick with them.

They also have to make sure that they don't place too high an emphasis on signing new players before worrying about the junior players.......

The Tigers need to get out and about in the community. They've failed to build up any support in Campbelltown and need to reaquint with people in Leichardt.

i agree.. tiger's although they do make their scheduled appearences at macarthur square in campbelltown don't really attract a crowd or do much else publicly for the community or get amongst them..
time sheens addressed this problem when he spoke to the campbelltown commerce board or sumthing to that effect.. he realises that they need to get amongst the people so that our home grounds really are our home grounds..

Firstly, let me say I am forever grateful of the Wests side of the JV, they have gone above and beyond to keep the JV together.

BUT, the board issue, is this a Wests thing? In that they keep the board members for life? Something needs to change, the club just seems to have accepted mediocrity for years, the new coaching system may prove dividends, but I have always thought that the players are never held accountable?

I’m from the other side and they just seemed to be a bit more successful on the footy field than Wests (this may be because I never followed Wests). Can’t say I remember how the Tiger board ran (not to well in the end). But they always seemed to be there about in the comp (agree, not always) and more proactive than the Wests side when in opposition?

Not sure if anything can change, if Wests Ashfield don’t want it too, but we seem to have everything in place to be a super power of the NRL, except a competitive FG side? Though I firmly believe that will come, eventually.

PS: interesting to read some of the old posts, nothing has changed 😂😂😂

Tigerm, when we look back, things always look better.
That girl you tried to score with at the blue light disco in '82 . . . the one with the beautiful flowing blonde hair and that great arse and rack . . . . well, now she is 125kg, grey straggly hair, 18 cats and that great rack is now a waist high shoe stand.
I don't know who would make the better board nowadays . . . . but because Balmain's was such a clusterfXXX, we'll never have an alternative to Wests.
On the one hand, we have to be grateful. On the other, it eliminates alternative points of view.
Just give me a sec to remove these splinters.

I love this line. It's so true as well.

Interesting reading of posts nearly 20 years ago. There’s no doubt in my mind the joint venture and the NRL have squandered opportunity’s in Campbelltown over the last 20 years. However it’s not to late in my opinion.

Where are we gonna play our matches, that's the biggest thing for me at the moment. Souths are moving from Homebush, could we play most of our matches at Homebush? I'm thinking corporate money. I'm just thinking out loud.

I like the idea of moving all of our home matches to Homebush.

As much as there are people who want us to play at the local traditional grounds, it doesn't seem to give us any advantage in the result.

And from memory, we get paid $100k for every game we play there. It would be smart business.
