If you add to the French team Theo Fages, Fouad Yaha, Morgan Escare, Jason Baitieri and Antoni Maria you have a much more serious and competitive French team, a team that could become a permanent part of the Four Nations. It won't beat the top three, but it will keep the score difference with England to about three tries. Lucas Albert should be the regular French five eighth within 2 years. Then once Toulouse gets into Super League, and its junior system starts to rival or even exceed that of the Catalans, the French national side will become even more competitive. That could happen in 5-9 years from now. Moreover the FFR13 should be finding ways to pay the players to represent their country, just as the big three do.
France and the RFL should also be thinking of a third French team from Avignon to be introduced through the current system, with an eye to promotion into Super League. The fact that Avignon can consistently attract decent crowds (14,000 + this time) suggests that a professional club would thrive there if money is behind it.
