Cromartie deal could be a second round pick if he performs well, he will get plenty of balls thrown his way opposite Revis.

Seems like Peppers to Bears and Dunta Robinson to Falcons are pretty much done deals

Burleson is a good pick up for the Lions. He can make plays along side Calvin Johnson and in the special teams if they decide to use him there.

I think Tomlinson to the Vikings is a very good chance now.

If you think about it. The Vikings really need a good #2 back, because Peterson has already had a lot of carries this early in his career, if they can bring in someone like Tomlinson and share the load 60/40 it could work out very well, it keeps Peterson fresh and adds another season to his career and we get to use all of what Tomlinson can offer late in his career.

S Antrel Rolle signs with the Giants and is now the highest paid safety in NFL history.

That Rolle deal is shocking, gets cut from one team so they save some cash and then another team gives him that sort of deal. i dont see him as being worth anything near that and i thought that the Giants had Phillips at FS unless they move him to SS

Patriots make Wilfork highest-paid nose tackle

Posted March 05, 2010 @ 7:47 p.m.
By PFW staff

Vince Wilfork announced by Twitter that he has re-signed with the Patriots long term.

The deal reportedly is for five years and $40 million, with $25 million of it guaranteed and $18 million in the form of a signing bonus.

"Thanks to everyone who supported us during our time here in New England it has ment a great deal to us," Wilfork "tweeted" in a joint statement from him and his wife, Bianca. "With that being said we are pleased to say we will be here for MANY more years to come."

With those financial terms, Wilfork would be the highest-paid nose tackle and the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL.

The Patriots placed the franchise tag on Wilfork prior to the deadline this year and said they were attempting to sign him to a long-term deal.

Wilfork previously had said he would be upset if the Patriots franchised him, but it clearly had no bearing on the accord of a new agreement.

I don't get these record breaking deals lately..

If you put the highest paid team together you could argues it's not even the best team..

Also Rolle for example.. If the Giants didn't make him the highest paid safety, was it likely he would get the money else where?

No salary cap i believe. It will just get worse IMO as players realise that they have all the power this year.

Yeah but thats not the case.

There are limits.

Like they can't sign a 4 year deal worth 40 mill and get $30m in the first year...It aint the case....and not viable for the teams either really.

The NFL has clauses in the CBA to state that this type of thing is not allowed.

it wont get worse, i think the opposite will happen. With no salary cap the owners are actually going to save more money and you can already see it with some of the cuts that have happened. This period allows them to cut costs without any real implications. With the change in FA due to lack of CBA there are only a few prized players who are on the open market and subsequently it is going to take more money due to demand rather than because of the players

no team is going to sign a player to that sort of contract, with the big money signings you need to look at what is guaranteed. The rest of the contract is incentives and some of it will never reach the player because of that. But yeah the CBA doesnt apply because they never reached an agreement to put a new one in place and has expired. Unfortunately for the fans it looks like it is likely that the 2011 season will be a lockout

Exactly the guaranteed dollars is most important. Look at the Nate Clements deal, "highest paid defensive player" but he'll never see the money. It's an ego stroking thing. The recent Delholmme deal is another example, he'll be paid another $12 million despite being cut, although his total contract was worth over $40 million.

The Redskins and Niners have proven that in recent years, free agency does little to improve the overall team performance. Draft strongly for years and you'll win for years.
