Rashard Lewis
The NBA's most sought-after free agent is going to the Magic Kingdom.

After being treated to an aggressive 24-hour courtship, Rashard Lewis told the Orlando Magic on Monday that he plans to leave the Seattle SuperSonics to sign a max contract with Orlando on July 11, according to NBA front-office sources.

Interesting move by the Magic. Lewis will give them the scorer they desperately need but still can't see them making a deep run though. And it's likely they have to give up Darko.

Vince Carter
Vince Carter agrees to a 4 year extension with the Nets.

Luke Walton/Jason Kapono
Walton - 6year extension agreed/Kapono to Raptors

Billups, Mo Williams & Gerald Wallace are the big(ish) names left. Would love the Hawks to make a big money move on Billups and could live with them taking a gamble on Darko.

Oh no, they'll have to give up Darko. Yes, I am a bitter Pistons fan...

Word is that Big Shot will re-sign with us but you never know, I guess.

Before the lottery I would have thought that the cloud over the team's future in Seattle would make it hard to retain free agents but with Durant coming maybe the city will want to get the new stadium sorted out. It would be such a shame if the Sonics left the NW...

Gerald Wallace would fit perfectly at the Spurs. The only way I can see us landing him though is if we don't re-sign Oberto, Udrih and Bonner.

Not so sure I agree.

His defence would obviously be a great addition, and he provides another scoring threat, but Spurs need spot-up shooters on the wings. Whilst Bowen has never been a high scorer, he's efficient and has been used perfectly. With Duncan, Parker & Wallace on the court, you'd only have one of Ginobili/Finley/Barry spreading the floor, none of whom are consistent 3 point threats anymore.

I wouldn't be using big money on a player that may not fit the system, I'm not convinced Wallace fits.

If I were in charge of the Spurs, I'd take a flyer on Darko. Somebody is going to pay the kid, why not take a punt? He's 22, a solid rebounder and defender, shown glimpses of an offensive game, gets to learn off TD and is inserted into a stable environment. A contract of $60m over 6 years is a big risk, but if it pays off.......

Maybe I'm just

Yeh I somewhat agree. But don't forget Big shot Horry would be playing C. Add to that the fact that Pop rotates his bench regularly with players rarely playing over 35 min a game. So still at any time many 3 point threats will be on the floor at the same time.

Bruce Bowen is ageing but still effective. Gerald Wallace would bring some youth and the athletic ability the team has been lacking and can cover BB in all aspects of the game.

Also with our need for a 2nd decent big man, I think Jamaal magloire would be who Popovich is looking at as he has been rumoured with the spurs in previous seasons. The one thing going for Darko however is his age and capability to improve. I would much prefer Darko then Oberto or Bonner but after a champioship year, I think Popovich will stick to what has been successful and Oberto and Bonner will probably come back.

As one of only three teams with significant cap room now that the Orlando Magic has reached an oral agreement with Rashard Lewis, the Memphis Grizzlies are weighing their options with interest in Andres Nocioni as well as Cavaliers restricted free agent Anderson Varejao. The longer the Grizzlies wait, however, the more attractive a Bulls offer that already is on the table could become. Chicago Tribune

A league source said power forward Anderson Varejao could sign an offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies that will pay him more than the mid-level exception, which is expected to be between $5.5 million and $6 million. However, the Grizzlies, who have slightly more than $8 million to spend, also are reportedly courting Chicago's Andres Nocioni, so there's a chance the Cavaliers could get lucky and spend only mid-level money to retain Varejao. Medina Gazette

Using $7 million as a starting point and factoring in the maximum 8 percent annual raise allowed for a potential five-year contract, Varejao's potential deal with Memphis would be worth slightly more than $41 million. The Cavaliers would have the right to match that offer and almost certainly would, but they are not thrilled with the idea of paying Varejao, a reserve, more than starting power forward Drew Gooden, who will make $6.4 million next season. Medina Gazette

For that reason, the source said, the Cavaliers have been listening to offers involving big men Varejao, Gooden, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Donyell Marshall. Medina Gazette

Grant Hill to Suns!!

Hill chose Phoenix over Detroit, Orlando, San Antonio, Miami and Dallas. Hill heard phone pitches from each team this week, talking to D'Antoni and Suns general manager Steve Kerr on Tuesday. He also spoke to Nash at some point, Babby said. Hill is coming off one of his healthiest seasons after an Orlando tenure plagued by injuries. He has undergone five surgeries on his left ankle, including one that led to a life-threatening staph infection. He also underwent hernia surgery in the fall of 2005. Arizona Republic/USA Today

Alot of really good teams were interested in him even though he's turning 35.

Free agency f**king sucks in the NBA.

The last deadline was a let down and there wasn't much movement on draft day for all these stars "demanding" action.

It will be interesting to see what Darko gets on the market. Oh and can someone please shoot Yi in the face already. Also how Green and Durant go together in Seattle, Allen in Boston and ffs move KG already!!! Hmmm I need NBA 2K8!

NBA Rumors: Fri, July 6
InsideHoops NBA rumors updated 8:12 p.m. ET.

After some miscommunication, Chauncey Billups and the Detroit Pistons have come to an agreement. ESPN's Ric Bucher reports sources say that Billups has now agreed to multi-year deal with the Pistons, but terms and length of the deal are unknown at this time. On Wednesday, Billups' agent, Andy Miller, refuted a reports that his client had agreed to a contract that could be five years and worth $60 million. ESPN.com

Andres Nocioni agreed to a five-year deal to return to the Chicago Bulls, and there is a team option for a sixth year. "He's glad to be back," George Bass, Nocioni's agent, said Friday. "We've been very aggressively working on it." The deal officially cannot be signed before July 11. Financial terms were not available, but the Chicago Tribune reported it was for approximately $38 million. AP/ESPN.com

Talks between Minnesota and Golden State about a trade that would send Kevin Garnett to the Bay Area are real and advanced, according to a person involved in the discussions. But it's too early to say whether No. 8 pick Brandan Wright, reigning "most improved player" Monta Ellis and an assortment of fat and/or expiring contracts will be enough. Wright can't be traded for 30 days because he signed his rookie contract Friday. New York Newsday

Heat coach Pat Riley made a late-night recruiting pitch Saturday -- wining and dining free agent Mo Williams -- in an attempt to land the most coveted point guard remaining on the market. Williams toured the Heat's facilities at AmericanAirlines Arena and ended his daylong visit by dining with Riley at a South Beach restaurant late Saturday. Williams' agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed Saturday night his client was in Miami and was ''very interested'' in an opportunity to play for a title contender. Miami Herald

Bartelstein would not say if the Heat is trying to acquire Williams through free agency or a sign-and-trade deal that could include Heat forward James Posey or point guard Jason Williams. Bartelstein also represents Posey, a free agent small forward the Heat has been shopping. Miami Herald

Bucks general manager Larry Harris has said re-signing Williams was a top priority. But the Bucks also have been busy trying to convince Chinese forward Yi Jianlian, their first-round draft pick, to ease off his trade demands. Miami Herald

Yeah but Darko will never be more than a average player.

Looks like Utah are set to get Mo Pete to fill in at SG. Would be very handy. They're also looking at Jason Hart as a back up. He played great for the Clippers last season and I think would be a more than handy pick up.

Agreed, but when some of those average players are getting paid twice the amount he is, then he's a bit of a bargain. And 3 years means the Grizz can cut and run if he doesn't work out.
