Free speech and Union

Free speech and Union - two things that don't belong in the same sentence.

I try to watch a bit of Union from time to time, you know, hoping that the won't waste getting all the elements of a good game together and an actual game of running rugby will break out (it never happens).
The thing that really gets up my nose about the commentators is that it is obvious they treat the audience like fools. You know they see dirty play, you know they often feel the ref gets calls wrong, you know they often think the game is as boring as bat shit, but all they do is mouth empty platitudes about how nice the world in union is.

Every time I think of Union now I think of the movie 'Pleasantville', which is basically about people being stuck into a 1950's type, mid-west American steriotyped, black and white, cliche ridden world. Everyone went around saying 'nice' things, while underneath, you could see that they all wanted to experience a bit of colour and to be able to say what they thought.

This site being locked down now strikes me as reflecting the real world. Union is a sport you have to be 'Pleasant' about, just like in 'Pleasantville'. Saying what you think is for people who arn't stuck in a 1950's, middle class, cliche ridden world.

And you dont see league through rose tinted glasses ? Not all league games are a thrill to watch some are as tidious as hell and the commentators are just as bias when it comes to league. At least if you make a statement about Union take your glasses off first.

Just because in the odd game that you have seen doesn't meet your standards doesn't mean it doesn't happen. This years NPC is full of running games stacked with try after try.

But of course because you haven't seen them then they can't happened.

More biased crap. had you have seen the Cant v Nth Harb game you would have seen the bagging Cribb got for his foul play.

Here's a thought. Maybe they actually like the game.... but again because you don't like it that can't be true.

Free speech is a myth. Since you don't like the game, don't come in here and whinge.

Like I have said before if you don't like what I am doing complain to Willow and Legend. If they don't like it they can always replace me.

I had a small post in the moderators forum, but decided that isn't the way to do things.

After a few minutes reflection, i came to this site and started this thread because, if I want to say something about a person, the first person I want to say it to is the person in question.

I've had my say now, but if I have something to say in the future I won't be going to Willow or Legend, I'll be telling you about it on the open forum.

If this were a 'real life' situation, ie if we knew each other personally, I'd be round at your house telling you face to face what I think. I'm too old and snarly to have anything to do with back door intrigues.

hahahhaahahahahahhahahahahahahaahahahahaha

i see that all the time

the pass can be miles forward - but in union they call it flat

ive actually heard league commenatotors have a dig at this

after seeing a forward pass in league saying 'in union they would have been ok" or if the ref has missed a forward pass "what is this, union?"

Since I don't have access to the moderators forum I can't comment. but you could always send them a PM like the rest of us mere mortals.

Feel free to rant all you want, I have said how I will moderate this section and where to complain.

Careful Roopy that came real close to a threat. And what "back door intrigues" would that be?
