Frugal for 2010

I just heard on 2CSR that the Wests Tigers have a licence until 2010..is this true? If it is it may explain why the management are not going to spend huge amounts of money for players in one hit and slowly build into a strong club.

Tim Sheens has always said that the improvement will come in 2005 and get stronger after that. I think it is unfair to demand big player signings at this time.

It is obvious that there is not much money at the Wests Tigers and I would prefer that we have long term viability then be irresponsible with the funds and go broke.

I have waited fourteen years I can wait a few more.

Agree 110%

BUT i believe they should spend as much money as it takes to hold Benji

Even if it's over $250k to try and compete with 3rd party payments that some other clubs will be able to offer him ???? (which will be worth well over the $500k mark)

He hasn't showed me that he is worth that amount yet !!!!!

yes!

the fact is that who will come up to replace him?

In every game he was played the crowds have been grand, our attack has been great and generally we have been going well.

He is a player that we need.

Please tell me who it is that will replace him if he goes?

As all of us sit back and complain about the situation with player retention because of financial restraints , it reminded me of a situation with Balmain when they had Sirro , Blocker , Hanley and some others comming up for contract renewals all at the same time .
Barns in his wisdom asked for supporters to contribute to a retention fund and the result was that only Hanley was lost .
Now I dont expect every one to start dipping into their pockets and start sending thier paypackets to WTS but it maybe time to phone / write to the company that you work for to inquire if they are interested in a 3rd party agreement (remember we are talking about the future face of RL )
Then again maybe we should sit on our arses and accept that Easts will be the next home of all our promising juniors .
