Full-time 'pitch invasions'

I suspect it has more to do with player safety than anything else. In this day and age I could imagine some idiot deciding to physically attack a player they didn't like if they were allowed on the field at full time "like in the old days".

Player safety and crowd safety. As someone has said, clubs that allow fans onto the field wait until cameras are packed up, signage removed and all risks are removed. Don't need a club being sued because a support ran and tripped over a cable or advertising board.

They have to be very careful these days. A few years ago one of the Sharks player's kids got hit by a golf cart packing up the pads. He was ok, but could have been much worse

This actually happened prior to fans being allowed on the field. Golf cart was driven by a club employee going to collect corner posts. Sharks players will usually do a lap with their kids. I don't believe the cart has been used for this purpose since.

I went for a drop goal and shanked it. The ball cannoned into some kid.

They stopped us from going onto the field after that :(
we ran on kogarah jubilee oval, at halftime, still in our local st.george juniors rugby league jerseys from our matches in the morning, security were not concerned, just kicking for goals, through the posts, brought some entertainment to the crowds, remember the days of organised games at haltime, played by the kids

its obvious why.

i went to Lockyers last game which they advertised as "get on the field with Locky".
Full time buzzer went, Locky waved, had a shower, got a limo home all before we were allowed on the field. Was shit

I was at that game- but I was right up in the ARL '96 seats. No chance of me getting onto the field, Locky or no Locky.

As a 10 year old I'm proud to say I pummelled a little kid out of the way to get a corner post at Kogarah. The little kid cried, then holding my treasured post in one hand I shook Pat Jarvis's hand. Nyeh, nyeh, nyeh.
1 year pat was our coach, pat and his police partner would show up, still on shift, in uniform, and coach us
