The coach and captain have very confidently said after each loss that we've remained competitive, "it's not like we're getting flogged each week"... The talk has always been pretty positive - we'll work hard, we'll come good, we'll bounce back...

Until now.

... we've gone from scoring 4 points, to 18 points, to 8 points, to 10 points. ... and yesterday we conceded 50 in a single game.

Now we're embarrassed, and apologising to fans and the club. Suggesting the club "deserves better".

A few weeks ago the boys credited Gould's SMH column - where he questioned their ticker - as the motivation to bounce back and steal a win against the early title favourites, Parra. Gould later rubbished the idea and said any team who doesn't have a point to prove week-in, week-out is a simple pack of pretenders. Gould has just been vindicated.

All the talk in the off-season was about a new attitude - about going from full-time to professional... and that anything short of a run in the finals this year would be unacceptable.

A 50-10 hiding by South Sydney is unacceptable in any event - but when you cop such a hiding on the back of four straight losses (even if you've remained "competitive" in all of them), then it doesn't matter if you make the finals at the end of the year. You've already handed your fans and your club the very definition of "unacceptable".

I just don't care if we make the finals anymore. The only thing that matters is that we patch our season up as best we can, so we can proceed with a little bit of dignity.

I was thinking about thsi last night. F*ck the rest of this season, I can't handle watching these merkins anymore.

If we suffer a few more humiliations like yesterday maybe something will be done about Sheens and co. If not by the board then surely the Media has to start putting some pressure on and raising some questions. It is officially beyond a joke what's happening.

There was certainly no heart at all from the vast majority of the players out there yesterday. I thought Ellis gave it his all, and Tuqiri was trying. But that was perhaps the most utterly pathetic performance I can remember from this team in the last 10 years or so.

Unforgivable.

I'm sure the players must be pissed off with Sheens. How can you not show any heart at all wearing the famous black and gold colours in front of 30 000 people at the spiritual home of RL in Sydney on a beautiful day? Pathetic.

Dont disagree. I am gutted by yesterdays pathetic effort. No pride, no guts, no nothing. But we have been waiting for the board / media to start asking questions and not accept the evasive answers or non answers now since 2006. Hasnt happened yet.

Here we go again- WT have managed to reward mediocrity

a/ with extending Teflon's contract early in the season.
(Surely that means Folkes will p'off for next year?)

b/ continued selection of underperforming players in the starting lineup- no pressure. Faith wins over form.

c/ a limited, one dimension attack based around Benji Marshall by now has been well and truly sussed out by the opposition and nullified any attacking spark we had left. When the opposition do not allow a free flowing game for WT we are f***ed.

d/ a pack that manages to get over-powered and out muscled almost every game when it gets into an arm wrestle.

e/ lack of recruitment to fix halfback and goalkicking problems.
(Hell, I wouldnt even mind if they contracted Matthew Head to provide advice and training for the existing halves WT have- at least they would be seen to be trying to do something)

f/ Sheens vision of a different game eg no tradtional 6 & 7 does not seem to bear up to reality- every other team using traditional players are outperforming WT and being more consistent in form.

Damn it, I'm just so...................... empty.

Even when a select few of us were sledging them from the outer, nothing seemed to register with them. I now have a hangover and sore throat thanks to these dribblers. I didn't even get a crack at the corner post

Benji is a traditional 6 you merkin!

Listen to Sheens- whenever the criticism of lack of proper 1/2 back- he says there is no tradition 6 & 7 anymore.

I'm presuming he is implying, without it being questioned in a follow up question by the interviewer, that he has got WT being directed one side eg left by the 6 and the right side by the 7.

I could be very wrong, but that is my take on his response. I know Benji is a traditional 6 and definitely not a 1/2. We've been down that road......
