A quote by Brian Canavan in this article seems to settle the matter

Roosters new recruit Jayden Nikorima can be new Craig Wing

ROOSTERS recruit Jayden Nikorima is shaping as the new “ Craig Wing’’ off the bench for the Sydney heavyweights, club CEO Brian Canavan says.

Nikoriima, who left the Broncos for greater opportunities, has had a shoulder reconstruction and will be able to have a strong pre-season aimed at forcing opportunities.

The Roosters have lost backline kingpins Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Warriors) and James Maloney (Sharks) to rival NRL clubs for 2016 and are in a state of transition in those positions.

Canavan said the 19-year-old Nikorima will start NRL life as a utility bench player, like his elder brother Kodi at the Broncos.

“He’s a little undecided, and we’re undecided as well,’’ Canavan said.

“Jayden is a Craig Wing lookalike and playalike, a very strong runner. Nikorima is in the mix (for backline selection). Anything could happen.

UNDERACHIEVERS: What bottom eight must do

“It took Craig a few years to find his spot. He was fullback, centre, five-eighth, halfback and hooker for us. Eventually he settled at hooker and all up he had a wonderful nine years with us.’’

Wing played 12 Origin games for NSW, including eight off the bench in nine games in the victorious series for the Blues in 2003-05.

Canavan said all available Roosters, who have four tourists in New Zealand’s touring team to England, would resume training on November 17.

“Jayden won’t be going into full scale training then, but he’s ahead of his rehab schedule I am told. He will be able to play some pre-season games,’’ he said.

The Roosters are $8 third favourites for the 2016 premiership in UBET markets, behind Brisbane ($5) and North Queensland ($5.50).

Recruits Nikorima and Wigan winger Joe Burgess both start at Bondi Junction on two-year deals.

“The safe option is Blake Ferguson at fullback, Joe Burgess on the wing and Shaun Kenny-Dowall in the centres. We’ll see how it pans out,’’ Canavan said.

Dunno, Captain. We've been patient with SKD. Still are, LOL

to be fair a lot of the initial criticism of SKD was from when he had Soliola playing inside him who made most of the mistakes that SKD paid for and then he was playing needled up with some nasty injuries too.

Blake Ferguson to replace Roger Tuivasa-Sheck as Roosters fullback

November 12, 2015 8:00pm
PAUL CRAWLEYThe Daily Telegraph

THE Sydney Roosters are set to unleash their own Greg Inglis clone next season when Blake Ferguson gets first crack at Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s vacant fullback spot.

As the gifted 25-year-old approaches the prime years of his career, Trent Robinson has revealed that Ferguson will now travel the same path as Inglis did at the same age when the Roosters return for pre-season training next week.

When Michael Maguire shifted Inglis from centre to fullback at Souths in 2012, it took Inglis’ involvement and impact to a whole new level.

Standing at 192cm and weighing 103kg, Ferguson is almost a mirror image to Inglis who is 195cm tall and weighs 105kg.

As Fox Sports Stats’ Aaron Wallace explained: “There probably isn’t another player in the comp who is as close to Inglis (as Ferguson) in terms of size, strength and speed.”

While Robinson still believes Ferguson’s best position is right centre, Tuivasa-Sheck’s departure to the Warriors has opened up an opportunity to explore Ferguson’s freakish potential.

Robinson was adamant he would not rush the development of teenage sensation Latrell Mitchell or NSW Cup team of the year fullback Omar Slaimenkhel, while Jackson Hastings would take James Maloney’s five-eighth spot.

“Blake would definitely be the frontrunner at the moment,” Robinson said in respect to the fullback debate.

“We made a decision on signing Latrell long-term but he has just turned 18.

“He will be trained at fullback but it could take the three months of off-season (to get him ready for NRL) or it could take one or two years.

“We are not going to rush his development.

“I think Blake is a right centre.

“But the predicament we are in with obviously Roger leaving and us believing in the guys we have in the club and not wanting to recruit from outside means we are left with a really young up and coming fullback and then Blake.

“He has played a lot of fullback, wing and centre so there is a challenge there.”

Robinson said the switch was going to require a pre-season transformation to get Ferguson ready for the extra workload.

“He is going to have to increase his aerobic fitness, that usually means for a fullback (losing) a couple of kilos,” Robinson said.

“He will have to do harder, longer running and obviously there are a few skill differences.

“He has been catching high balls for a long time so I am not concerned about that.

“He has been bringing balls back out of wing from Cronulla days. I am not worried about the back field stuff.

“But probably some tracking late in sets and some good balls skills that he needs to get in respect to attacking skills late in sets.”

The one guarantee is that the move will get Ferguson a lot more involved, as it did with Inglis.

“When you reflect on what the move to fullback did for GI’s career, he basically went from being a great centre to one of the most dominant players in the game,” Wallace added.

“Outside of the halves the fullbacks are the most important guys now.

“Look at a team like the Roosters and the impact Tuivasa-Sheck had last year.

“Obviously he made a whole heap of run metres (averaging 215m from 21 runs).

“But in try assists James Maloney had 24, Mitchell Pearce had 20 and then Tuivasa-Sheck had 16.

“And he made the most line breaks for the Roosters (21).”

New parkway is shite compared to the first album.

Be nice if a certain plane would land in Bondi as is constantly speculated, leaving Fargo to tear it up in the centres.

Omar Slaimankhel is the best choice because he attracts the Afghan community, who have a lot of money for sponsorship and put more bums on seats.

Thanks even though I haven't heard my latest album yet.. :D

I haven't heard my latest effort but how is it....more like Atlas or their earlier stuff or a departure?

TBH I liked all of their stuff including Atlas.

Yeah hope Fergo stays at right centre....he has the potential to be the best centre in the world. He sucked at FB for the Raiders but never had a proper preparation, coaching etc for it.

It's a lot more like atlas mate, seems way too over produced IMO. Need to go back to Massachusetts and record with Adam D from kill switch again. I'll always be a Killing with a Smile fan tho so I'm probably biased against the new one. Tho Winston hits some brutal death growls on this one like I've never heard before.

Agree with Fergo as well, just hope we aren't weakening one position to try him in another. Mini working with him should help him develop if we do go that route. Just think Fergo and SKiD have developed a lovely combo in both attack and defence on the right hand side and they genuinely look like they love playing next to each other. I saw it at the 30-0 drubbing we gave Souths
