After todays game and watching toshio i just didn't think he cuts it.
So who should fill the role of fullback if you had your choice?
Personally i think we should push vagana back to fullback. i remember he played a couple of winning tests for NZ a few years back at fullback and played pretty well. this would obviously get him more involved which would be a plus and then pomeroy could finally get a chance in the top grade.

I never want to see Laiseni in first grade again. He was completely overawed.
He was worse than a passenger....he was a liability. He makes Simmonds look like Andrew Johns.
What would I do? One of two things:
1) I'd promote Aitken to FB. He can take a ball, he can tackle, and he can set up his supports. You only have to note the lift in PL every time he comes on.
or (second preference)
2) Covell to FB. Dykes to centre. Scott to wing. Aitken to 5/8
or
2b) Vagana to 5/8 with Pomeroy into the centres.
My guess? Raper won't do any of them.

Ive never been a fan of Atkien at 5/8 , but he is good under the high ball has some speed and should be able to come into the back line when we have the ball. Bring him in next week.

So the hype on Laiseni was all that.
Very ordinary and not sure if we should stick with him but knowing Raper the team will probably be the same next week.

Well we will not win the comp with our make up at present.

I thought we had more than enough "blush" on today. Maybe we could use some more eyeliner?? :)

I must admit, I wasn't sitting in the best spot during the game to be able to watch Tosh closely. What I did see, was one dropped ball that will get remembered.

I wonder how many people saw him make a tackle that Simmons wouldn't have even got close to?

I also saw him sniffing around the ruck a lot. I saw someone get in his way off a ruck play off load also.

It's a bit harsh to call for his dropping after this week isn't it? Rapes didn't leave him at the back for any extended period from what I saw.

I must admit though, I'll need to catch the reply at 7.30 on fox to have a better look.. but it sounds very petulant to cry when a young and up and comer doesn't chuck a SBW in his first game.

I didn't think he went that bad. Kid on debut playing two high pressure positions.

Would be stupid to write him off after that game.

How about you all point the blame where it should be directed.

Laiseni has played all year at fullback. Trained all year at fullback. Gets the callup as fullback and Raper plays him all over the park. He actually would of had about 15 minutes max at the back.

I can see a use for interchanging FBs and wingers usually but why set a rookie up to fail by doing it in his debut. He wasn't given any chance to settle into the game. And for what, to put that clown Albert back there?

Abominable work by Raper.

Didnt play that shocking. Did some good things and some silly mistakes. He didnt lose that game. The team did. Made a good linebreak.

I cant wait for Simmo back, but lets hope Tosh turns it up.

I saw Noddy screaming at him to get into position on a number of times, He displayed the same form from the trial games earlier this year.......which was forgetable.

Really? Which position would that be? Winger, Fullback or left right out.

He was crueled by the game plan and the coaching staff.

If he performed they would not have moved him positionally. There was a lack of confidence and mistakes which unfortunately lead to his demise - not all made by him though.

Great run off Kimmorely in the centre of the park to set up Kinga for our only try.
He did make a few errors - true, but as pointed out by Frenzy his debut was made more testing. But his errors pale in contrast to Vaganas.

Both winger and fullback Frenzy. On one occasion on the 5th he had to be told to fall back for the kick any winger for fullback worth anything should know that.
I'm not saying he's a bad player I'm saying he's not up to NRL yet.

Which the coaching staff could also hold some blame.

AFAIC he was performing well BEFORE he was moved. I'll openly defy anyone who watched the first 20 minutes to say they weren't thinking "This kid looks OK" or "hey this might work out well". He easily looked his best when at the back.

Now to many want to scapegoat him when the whole team was ordinary to say the least. (not necessarily you Spider)
