BTW I like him as a winger or FB. He seems to be sniffing for opportunities around the ruck. Could cause some carnage if we can build some momentum and pressure ala the middle period of the 1st half today

Pity for Tosh then because he was scratchy but no where near as bad as some are making out. Especially when the tripe served up by some of the $$ cattle was as bad or worse.

Did the game actually have "flow" Spider?

They looked totally unsettled. Noddy and Addo swapping sides. Tosh and Albert swapping. All of a sudden a total change in the use of the interchange. Hilder expected to do a props job.

We're in a bit of deep sh*t IMO.

First half - i thought he was solid (only one scratchy moment when he almost muffed the ball dead).
Hit a hole which lead him to putting Kingston over and from then on we steadied for the last 15 minutes of the half and went in leading.

IMO he should be there next week - which will be a tougher job.

Yes i agree - he should not have been switched.

Start of the second half, BK throws a pass slightly behind him and high, but he will only be remembered for the knock on 10 metres off his line - not the pathetic pass thrown by one of our "$ $ cattle".

That pass should have been caught no question about it. Toshio shouldn't be crucified from today's game. He looked pretty lost a few times and that is understandable. There is no individual culprit responsible for today's loss. They all reverted to that desperation style of football of trying to push the impossible pass every play and combine that with laziness in the basic skills which continually gave the ball back to the tigers and we end up getting flogged. I haven't seen any stats but I'd say we didn't complete many sets. Our kicking game looked to be heading in the right direction in the first half and then it seemed to be abandoned. Dumb football by the Sharks cost us the game today.

Albert doesn't talk at all. It is truely amazing how he handles the high ball.

Albert is shocking under the high ball. See him take that ball out of toshs hands..no farkin communication..
When elford scored off that bomb it was not all his fault.. Vagana should of been giving him some protection.

I did not mind Tosh at all..He was better than Vagana, Albert. Made a great try saving tackle.. Nice running through the gap and pass for Kinga.

Like frenzy said.. He was moved all around the park. And when he played at fullback he went Ok.

Not bad for his first game in FG.

My votes with the young bloke - he will be alright. Infact I liked what I saw.

"There's some mongrel and ticker there for sure"

I remember watching Rick Burkes first first grade game, played wing I think, had a shocker...

Sh!t happens, but it is those that learn off their mistakes that make the best ones....

Crikey I've got a far can lot of learning left to do..... made sh!tloads of mistakes. Should be right if I live to 106. Hope I do, I might live long enough to see the Sharkies win a far-can comp.

Cheers

Quigs I thought Ricks first game was when he came on in the 78 grand final and had a blinder. Had he played first grade prior to that?

That might be a bit of folklore there sharknows.

I am pretty sure Sir Thomas would not have a debutant play in the Clubs first ever Grand Final in 1973

On the related subject of fullback, my biggest gripe with players these days is that they rarely catch balls on the full (a generalisation but still a fact). Fullbacks and wingers let the ball bounce way too much. It happened today with us, it happens every week with us and with every other club in the comp. If I was a coach, I would bombard them with bombs (excuse the pun) at every training session until it became second nature to them. Peachey is awesome under the high ball, but then again ... the guy is awesome fullstop. Covell and Simmons have shown some skill in doing so...but still have the odd duck and cover ... So a plea from Gavin_Miller (forum member) ... whoever wears no.1 next week ... eyes on the ball, jump, catch.

I'd leave Cov on the wing.......

And for Vags, I would move him to Fullback, --- fullback in Premier League.

Before the team runs onto the field each week they should give him a ticket.
Because he is nothing but a passenger for 60 minutes of each game. If he is going to have a ride on us for the rest of the season, at least make him buy a ticket.

Toshio showed that he was overawed, but thats first grade debuts for you. backed up well and shoed poise to set up Kingas try. BUT regardless of positional plays and coaching, failing to catch bombs is terrible and something simmons gets blasted for every game, even since his very first.

Toshio was left hung out to try by Albert and vagana, very disapointing that these two experienced players failed to talk and communicate all game long with the rookie. ALbert and covell failed to get back in support for toshs kick returns too, it was ordinary. tosh has ability.
