Awesome news about the NQ stadium. Can't wait for it to be ready. Might finally give me a reason to go up there for a bit of a holiday and look see.

The NSW government has just announced it will be shutting down greyhound racing in Australia.
That's going to leave greyhound tracks around the state up for redevelopment- most notably Wentworth Park in Glebe. Would it be worth the NRL looking at it for a new inner city stadium location?

No chance of that happening.

You have access to the Internet.

Go to maps.google.com. Type Wentworth park Glebe into the search. Come back and tell us how anyone would get to that new stadium. Where it might fit, remember it's not just a field, etc etc. it's not a viable position.

Itd be great, but we're far more likely to get a housing development...

(Or a casino)

Agreed. That site has long been talked about as a potential new indoor stadium for basketball and such sports. The Entertainment Centre has gone and the replacement will not really be appropriate for sport, all the seats will be on one side. Given the size of the land and the roads/parking at Wentworth Park, a venue for the Sydney Kings etc with a capacity of say 6-7,000 would be much more viable than a 25,000 seat league stadium

I've always said, Prince Alfred Park is the best location available in Sydney. In fact it is a no brainer if the NRL and the State Gov were fair dinkum and had some vision and fortitude.

100%. Will never happen but that is without a doubt an incredible location.

Engineering would be a nightmare though as train lines pass under

Agreed, but it is doable if the desire were there. But like I said visionary is not what any of our leaders are this past 70 odd years.

You realise there's a light rail station practically right next to it, plus dozens of bus routes running through Broadway a few hundred metres away, right?
