Planned development doesn’t involve any stadium work so not sure what you’re talking about.

Well there you go. Didn't realise that.

I figured because they needed to relocate to Kogarah the actual stadium must've been impacted significantly otherwise they wouldn't move.

My preference would be to build at 20-25k stadium at olympic park. Then Souths, Dogs, Tigers could all be based their , it increases usage of the area built around it and saves you changing ANZ - so effectively you save 800m on ANZ and soend 200m on a small stadium next door to a location fans are already used to going and which has transport and facilllities. Then you replace Brookvale with a new Northern Stadium and upgrade Woolongong for the Dragons. If you have any cash left after all of that then you upgrade a little of Penrith
I love the idea of a 20k stadium at Homebush. Any games involving the tenants that becomes a blockbuster could easily be moved to ANZ.

nor should it. Bankwest is just up the road, if you’re going to splash on a new stadium put it somewhere nearer two teams regions.

Of course.
Suggesting a new 20 k stadium be built at Homebush is as stupid as someone suggesting the govt throw $200 million at Penrith.

Bankwest should have been built at Homebush and Parra Stadium sold off, it would then have had 4 Rugby League tenants and we would have been set stadium wise.

They should have built a rectangular stadium at Homebush and given ANZ to the AFL instead of converting the sports ground thing for GWS

It was the impact on the construction if we played there that would have caused delays. So the builders paid us to close the Leagues and move for a few seasons.

I disagree. One of the key components of success for modern stadiums is for them to be located either within, or as close to as possible, a bustling CBD (see Adelaide Oval, Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Optus Stadium in Perth and the new stadium in Townsville). Public transport options as well as bars, cafés and restaurants all need to be within strolling distance of the punter.
The last thing you want is a Bruce Stadium situation where the punters are having to drive out to a paddock in the middle of nowhere and have nothing else to do besides drive home after the game has finished.
Up until COVID-19, and probably beyond, Parramatta CBD is booming. It was absolutely the correct decision to locate Bankwest Stadium within Sydney's second hub.

which is why the talk of potentially building a new stadium on the outskirts of Canberra on the federal highway, instead of in the city, is absolutely mental!

makes you wonder how well paid city planners come up with such ridiculous ideas.

Actually the NSW Government should have followed through on its original design concept which was, post Olympics, to make what is now ANZ Stadium a permanent rectangular stadium. They should have rejected the AFL's request (and money offered, which was accepted) to make it a multi-purpose ground which could be made into an oval. Considering the AFL do not play any games there anymore, it just says how stupid a decision it was by the then Government to take on board the AFL's suggestion.

As to the Giants, they play at the Showground which is an oval. It was designed that way.

Taking off the NRL glasses it actually wasnt. The more tenants and events at ANZ the better return for Govt. So if they could get NRL and AFL using it then it makes more sense for them. It being oval and sht for RL hasnt stopped NRL using it!

Then they shouldn't be running a multi Million $ sports business. If the fans want it and it makes commercial sense then you'd have to be plain stupid to not use the best RL stadium in Sydney because of a false perception of it belonging to Eels.

Meh, economic realities will make them come around eventually.
Fans coming in from most public transport links as well as the CBD don't even have to walk past Parra Leagues as it's to the north of the stadium.

If you are say a local plumber in Campbelltown. you sponsor the WT for the local coverage...What is in it for playing at Parramatta?

So not all cases work in central places

Why would playing at Bankwest instead of ANZ, LO or CAmp. make any diffierence to a plumber? In fact if Bankwest is full of eyes on your advert and you get a much nicer corporate box experience wouldnt that encourage you to sponsor them?

Cause why would you want to get extra clients that take an hour to get too? That is benefit to suburban grounds get new sponsors that you normally wouldn't get

Jersey sponsors and alike no doubt love the better corporate facilites but if all did then every side would use these stadiums

Mainly because of the financial incentives

Remove those which may occur with the SCG Trust taking over may change the landscape

SCG Trust is all about servicing SCG Members first - everyone else second
