Yep, always makes me wonder how good it would've been if the Gold Coast stadium was built where the Gold Coast Turf Club/Southport Racecourse is (what a waste of prime real estate).

That stadium is going to be a game-changer for the Cowboys. Their home fixtures will be an event that even non-RL people will want to attend.

Just checked out both Titans Stadium and AFL's stadium locations and it looks as though AFL have a much more favourable location then the Titans do. Not being a GC local, is that correct, or am I not aware of some inconvenience that isn't apparent by just looking at the map?

This is like the first year Tvills had real rain. But really any where in Australia could rain during February. It would be awesome for the community up here, to have something like that.

The Suns stadium was also where the Titans played originally, and also formerly the home of the Chargers and (briefly) the Seagulls. I'm pretty certain it was originally developed to be the home of the Brisbane Bears AFL club in the late 80's.

I think it's in a better spot by virtue of being older, the GC was a much smaller city when it was first developed and expansion of the city has happened around it. Robina was built on a greenfield site, and I think the location was picked as much for the land cost as anything (it is also on a heavy-rail line to be fair).

in the 80’s and early 90’s, growing up in the ‘ville, wet seasons from my memory were always pretty decent. What happened recently was one in
a 200 year event from the last stats I read.......


It’s a gamble playing games up there in March, the all stars game would be well supported, would be a great way to open her but the Cowbs might want that honour seeing as though they’ve put
$10mil into the construction of it.......

I wish the NRL would just give us 3 away games at the start of each season to just get those games out of the way. Most teams would prefer to play us later in the season anyways.

Robina is serviced by that train line, a freeway, buses and a decent suburban road network. Yeah there’s not much around it
for pre and post game clowning other than Robina town centre.

The stadium itself is Ikea flat pack-ish but there’s not a bad seat in the house. It’s all on the club and the fans to get off their asses and stop making excuses and get amongst it. Compared
to a lot of other teams, they have been given a decent home and although Searle f**ked on a lot of businesses early on, GC people need to support their team or they might find themselves without one in the future.

Longer term I think it’ll be the better of the two options. The extension of the heavy rail to the border will make it insanely easy for people at the southern end of the coast to reach the stadium, and once the light rail hits Burleigh they’re looking at a spur to Robina and a continuation to the airport to meet the future heavy rail. In the end it’ll be a venue that anyone can get to quickly on public transport

Those sound like expensive projects that somehow the Titans fans will probably pay for in increased ticket prices to $100 per person.

I think the Titans have suffered from the fact that the Storm are basically a SE Qld club. I would make the Storm develop Melbourne before cutting the Titans.
