How about we get rid of the Titans then?

Their crowds are atrocious and most of the time they get outnumbered by the opposition team's fans.

The only thing keeping those jokers in the league is AFL's Gold Coast Suns.
Titans. Whole region to themselves.
Raiders. Whole state to themselves.
Warriors. While country to themselves.

Yep the sharks, eagles and dogs are the problem.

I don't hate The Sharks. I just don't see how they can grow.

They're well supported.
Your constant anti Cronulla posts in here tell another story.

Ah really, if the 9 AFL clubs are well supported why are Hawthorn & North Melbourne playing handfuls of games in Tasmania?

And don't start me on the basketcase that is St Kilda atm.

The Gold Coast simply doesn't have a sports culture and if one thinks about the Raiders and the Warriors live in the shadow of rugby union.

Even though union is at its nadir in this country the Brumbies still get bigger crowds than the Raiders have.

afls model in melbourne is as unsustainable on its own as nrls in Sydney, difference is they haven’t let it stop them expanding like we have. And they’ve got the revenue to prop clubs up, which we don’t.

The titans crowd avg for the 4 years BC is on par with the sharks, and this at a time the sharks were premiers and top 8 whilst titans where struggling. People in glass houses and all that lol

It’s fair to say both of their last 2 clubs to enter their Comp was to combat the nrl.

Nah. Double the population on the GC and nearest NRL club is 1hr by car away.

Sharks nearest is over a bridge away.

You're somewhat missing the point.

Bar the stupid incursions into Western Sydney and Gold Coast, the VFL/AFL expanded into areas that were already their own heartland.

They had no choice but to bring in the West Coast Eagles in 1987 as the WAFL was flat broke and they needed the Victorian money on offer to keep things at Subiaco Oval afloat.

And you don't need me to explain to you how Aussie Rules mad people here in Adelaide are.

Even the second tier SANFL is well supported.

Cronulla and Manly are easily the worst at travelling. Cronulla fans last year should go down in infamy for not caring enough to travel to kogorah to support their team when the move was for the benefit of the club. That will take some living down.
A lot did but their one visit to that shitty oval was enough for them and didn't go back and instead watched on TV. Says more about the oval than anything else!

Nope I’m saying the Gold Coast aren’t pulling their weight.
Wonder what their crowd avg would be if they had the success of Sharks on the field in that period? They've hit 18-21k avg's in the past suggesting at least the potential is there. At the height of Sharks success they only mustered 14k.

But yes poor crowd attendance is a game wide issue, not just a Sydney one. On that we agree! NRL has one of the lowest attendances of a top tier most popular sport in a major cities in the world. Take out the Broncos and it starts to look even worse. We know from Tv audiences the interest is there, we have just been terrible at getting them casual fans to be rusted on committed fans. Which takes us back to venues and quality of experience of attending a game!
