The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Good points have been brought up though.

What should be aim for the New Club?

For me GC or NQ are a good starting point, When you are comparing corporate facilities to part time grounds, then you aren't helping the argument
I think it is comparing a current stadium with other current stadiums. It’s not like Perth would look to build a new stadium which matches the current setup. Same can be said for most of the Sydney clubs.

Sydney clubs, Even Brisbane Easts have the start costs taken care of though. With Bigger stadiums

Sydney clubs like playing locally to get business to the Leagues clubs, They have the option of moving to CommBank and Allianz if the Corporate makes sense.

Regional and interstate sides have no such luck, So any new team should match these locations or they will fall behind

I don’t know why Perth is getting such a pounding from people.

It's because Perth Red has made a history out of being ultra critical of rugby league in Sydney. He's also critical of rugby league in Brisbane, albeit to a much lesser extent. On top of this, he overlooks the problems with rugby league in Perth and England because he has an emotional connection to both places.

Most people would agree that Perth is the only major Australian city outside of the game's heartland that can support a team. It's a matter of when is the right time and should other areas be prioritised.

A Perth-based team isn't going to radically change the game for the better. Test football won't benefit from one because it won't generate more players in New Zealand, PNG, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. Aggregate TV ratings and attendances for the game will remain fairly similar. The value to the broadcast rights will remain the same.

The biggest problem for Perth is its best rectangular stadium is decades behind the stadia in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and Townsville. This will limit how much money a Perth-based team can generate from ticketing and corporate hospitality (in a state that prohibits pokies).

I think decades is a bit of a stretch.

Build a new larger western stand with corporate facilities and you’ve got a pretty great 24,000 seat stadium.

hbf won’t get an upgrade unless there’s an nrl club demanding it. Govt isn’t going to waste money on two b grade sports teams that struggle to get 5 figure crowds. In a somewhat ironic way the demise of prof union has cost us a finished stadium.

A snippet from the panthers celebrations at panthers stadium

reporter said the main stand will be demolished the end of next year so it looks like it’s only one stand for now

Surely the east stand will be demolished too. It is by far the oldest stand at the ground. 2 brand new 100m grandstands on the east and west sides will be a great result for Penrith.
