That map shows border lines, not population density, for all the amount of area in catchments for Penrith, Tigers and Parra, a lot of that is empty bushland, not actually urban areas, so yeah you could argue, bulldogs area is more heavily populated compared to the other Sydney sides

Am I wrong? If not number 1, they are certainly one of the biggest and it would be a disaster to relocate them

The above report is based upon Roy Morgan's Single Source survey. This survey purely asks, out of the 17 NRL teams, who do you support, they use pretty much the same audience as they do for their AFL survey, which is why you end up with the Storm as number 1 for NRL and the Swans as number 1 for AFL.

NRL results:

AFL results:

The reality is, whilst these expansion teams have a lot of 'casual' supporters, they aren't the same type of supporters that @titoelcolombiano and co are talking about.

The metrics they are looking at are:
- Home attendance
- TV audiences

The Bulldogs had the highest Sydney average attendance in 2024 and has had more 20K+ average attendances than any other team since 2000. If they're not the biggest, they are definitely ones of them.

From a TV audiences perspective, the top drawing Sydney teams on both FTA and STV are Souths, Eels, Roosters, Bulldogs and Wests over the past decade.

The new stand at Brookie cost $33m. That ticks most of those boxes. So it can be done, how it is possible with the layout is the question
yeah thats the thing

if you build exactly that, 3,000 bowl, some kind of training and office building above it housing 400 corporates (its good!, not bagging it at all. great thing they've got done there)

you cant build that at the northern end because of the powerlines easement.

you could, do the seating bit, if you move the playing field south and have the southern stand directly behind the dead ball line.

so then, maybe you rip up the southern stand a bit and build that there.

I think the best thing they could do, is that exactly. change the layout of the southern end so you have seats to the dead ball line and all the way up, and have that wrap around to the ET stand on that side.

Powerlines could be buried or shifted

The Penrith Stadium redevelopment is to go before the Land & Environment Court in November to hear an appeal by the local Aboriginal Board against the denial of their land claim on the sites.
More delays, and an adverse ruling could potentially scuttle the redevelopment.

I dare say they judge won't rule in its favour. To be eligible for a claim, the land has to be unused, and regardless of what has been joked about here, we know that the Penrith Stadium site has hardly been un-used in the last couple of decades.

they just arent going to shift those or do that for a small ground upgrade

if anything, the 2 spots where the better stands are now, are where you can make everything bigger

Shows how the planning process in nsw is stuffed

there’s literally an existing stadium there how will building a new stadium have any different impact

Its got nothing to do with planning laws. Its more to do with the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983, and possible greed by the local Aboriginal Land Council. Under said Act, the land has to be crown land that is unused to be eligible for be claimed.

The real problem with shark park is the et stand is small and has around 3k seats all up

The Peter burns stand is also tiny being part of the leagues club facade

They’ve already done a small stand near the entrance so there isn’t a lot of space left

In one of the corners it looks like they’ve built a banqueting facility overlooking the ground so they can’t block the view

Sharks can end up selling it in 50 years for maybe 500 million then do a big ground elsewhere maybe in Miranda or on the train line

Their best bet is pulling the ET stand down and replacing it with a 12k+ full size stand. Problem is who pays the $150mill it would cost at todays prices?

250 million plus apartment owners next door would complain about view loss with a new stand

Sharks are rich now the ground with the leagues club finished will be good enough for them for a while with minor upgrades

Well yeah can't argue with that. But the Dragons would/should pick up the slack. After all that whole area was all theirs until the ARL at the time decided to bring in the Sharks to weaken the Dragons stranglehold on the competition at the time.

The Dogs are the other team that can also be moved too. Their base is in a no mans land that can be absorbed by the Tigers, Eels Rabbits and Dragons easily enough.

Funny graph

Easts have NEVER had any part of the CBD West of George St (Balmain/Glebe) or south of Liverpool St (Souths)

And Wests always had Auburn /Lidcombe

While Dogs have Liverpool to Bankstown
