Developer next door complained and they had to amend itWhy is the roof on the eastern side so shit? Extending it further wouldn’t overshadow the neighbors or anything like that?

Western stand roof coverage looks a lot more improved. Eastern stand looks the same if not worse. Makes me wonder if the developer on that eastern side that opposed the height and roof configuration wants to be able to market their future apartments with stadium views. Would be an extremely poor outcome for the city and a bad use of public funds. Knocking off a bit of height from the stand makes sense, no idea what reducing the roof coverage would do though. They've been land banking since 2015 and haven't even submitted a DA.$300mill doesnt buy you much these days!

But how does lessening the roof coverage make any difference?Developer next door complained and they had to amend it
Maybe it was a cost issue with the redesignBut how does lessening the roof coverage make any difference?
Just looks like an excuse to cheap out on the build even more.
Factor in the moving of the pool and it is over $500m$300mill doesnt buy you much these days!

shame about the roof though.Maybe it was a cost issue with the redesign
But they took the seats they lost on that stand and moved them to the other one
Surprised Alan Border Field in Albion hasn't been suggested, seems like lots of space... Plus that entire area behind breakfast creek hotel and up the breakfast creek desperately needs to be gentrified and fixed up.Looks like the stadium is going ahead one way or another in one of the 3 proposed locations.
As a local what's your view on where it should be?
Revamped Gabba with overpass from crossriver to stadium that consists of restaurants, outdoor areas above main road etc. buses and metro would service it as theres major stops there. main road, stanley and vulture would need major upgrades. close to south brisbane, south bank, kangaroo point and valley + eagle street pier opposite river
Victoria Park where old golf course was located with some sort of botanical gardens surrounding stadium? enough space but parking will be non existent due to hospital being right next to it and uni as well. public transport exists but only buses at the moment and would need upgrades. close to city, caxton precinct and new casino (relative).
Northshore hamilton where eat street currently is and a recently upgraded kingsford smith drive? opens up ferry transport but im not sure kingsford smith can take that much buses etc on event days without choking it to all traffic. close to city, valley, ferry can take you to casino
I can't wait to see the plans, it's gonna be a top notch stadium.Exicitng news out of todays Perth NRL expansion stories:
WA Govt funding would be worth $350 million-to-$500 million and would include a proposal to increase Perth’s rectangular HBF Stadium from a 22,500-seat venue to a 27,000-seat venue and upgrade the stadium’s facilities to ensure the new team could earn up to 70 per cent of its game-day revenue from corporate partnerships.
It’s a redevelopment plan that has long been called for by soccer and rugby union bodies. The funding also includes major infrastructure upgrades (Centre of excellence for the club).

This has been floating around for years. You have to ask, why? Who would use such a ’stadium’?

assume the upgrade is conditional on Perth getting an NRL teamExicitng news out of todays Perth NRL expansion stories:

Yes part of the offer to nrl for a club. No club, no upgrades.assume the upgrade is conditional on Perth getting an NRL team
would get pretty good use between the 3 rectangular codes
And because of where it’s located it’s hard to do more in the future. All because they wanted the site lined up for it to have apartments on it instead. That new Penrith stadium is a joke.
So much for progress.
NSW govt ought to be ashamed of itself.
