Canterbury Leagues Club seek to skip Liverpool Council refusal for $500 million precinct development

Liverpool City Council has come to a head with the club over the proposed lifestyle, entertainment and recreational precinct worth half a billion dollars on the outskirts of the city.

The precinct's design is set to revolutionise the way sporting facilities are constructed in Australia. The state-of-the-art stadium will have a seating capacity of 45,000, making it one of the largest stadiums in the country. The unique bowl design will ensure that every seat in the house provides an unobstructed view of the game.

The stadium will have a retractable roof, allowing games to be played in all weather conditions. The precinct will also have a community sports centre, featuring indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, available to the community for use.

Waste of money bothering with a roof on most of it in Port Moresby IMO. Moresby is the driest place in PNG, and as footy is played in the dry season the chance of it raining during a game is practically nil outside of the first few games of the season. Given the necessity of keeping ticket prices low so it’s accessible to local fans they’d be better off putting the money purely into increasing the capacity as much as possible, as well as making sure lighting, broadcast facilities and security are up to standard.

Canterbury currently have a planning proposal for their Liverpool site for hundreds of apartments and a 40k seat stadium

That won't happen.

What is being done is converting the Bankstown line into a Metro line which will make that link up with the Homebush one.

Making that trip even easier

Pretty sure the locals are fine with watching a game in the sun, especially if it means they can afford the tickets.
build a small premium section with a roof for VIP members and tourists, but the main focus for the local fans just needs to be to provide as many affordable seats as possible.

It’s not though.

Just because it’s in the centre of Sydney doesn’t mean it’s actually much easier to get too bc it’s not on a major train line and you need to park on parramatta rd if you don’t want to get stuck for ages after a game

If Allianz was 70k now Homebush could’ve been turned into a shopping centre of apartments

The proposal is for a privately owned stadium

It’s literally the dogs proposal to develop their own land

How it gets funded is a separate issue entirely

If they didn’t want a stadium they would’ve used the space for hundreds of more units

A dogs owned stadium in Liverpool would make them one of the strongest Sydney clubs and pretty secure all that region
