GeographyPeople on here saying having 3 or 4 Allianz or Commbank stadiums won't work in Sydney. Is this simply due to the NRL clubs not accepting it?
I would add that it would be good to see a club mode where it can create a more intimate experience for club games.Accor is now 26 years old,but still quite sufficient to cater and bid for these huge events and win them.
I would expect something to be done over the next few years and a full rebuild of Accor would complete Sydney’s stadia
Rectangular with retractable roof.
Add in the new Metro West station at Olympic Park which will reduce transport time to 15 min from the CBD and just 5 minutes from Parramatta.
There will no more excuses
Too hard to get too- New metro station at Olympic Park located in the middle of Sydney metro area.
Dont want to get wet- Retractable roof
Too far from the field -New Stadium designed for Rugby League

Agreed!I would add that it would be good to see a club mode where it can create a more intimate experience for club games.
Keep it 75k plus with a 30k club mode.
I don’t think we’ll need to wait 50 years for a rebuild. No chance a rebuild would cost close to 2 billion
At best it will be lipstick on a pig which is a roof and that will cost hundreds of millions
None of the stands should be kept
Wait 50 years then do a proper rebuild
Allianz is a jewel and acceptable for everything bar origin and the gf
Thats not just an issue with Accor but with any large stadiumThe issue with Accor is the sub 40k crowds. Higher than that and the area is buzzing both pubs are packed and the atmosphere inside is decent.
I think we are looking 10 years for meaningful renovations because it is still attracting events
Souths are moving outI don’t think we’ll need to wait 50 years for a rebuild.
You could argue Accor is the premier stadium of Australia due to its wide assortment of big events it generates. It’s at least on par with the MCG. To keep pumping the NSW economy it needs to keep up with modern worldwide stadia to keep attracting these events and more - think NFL games, etc
30 years is about the shelf life of a stadium, look at the SFS. There’s no heritage features of Accor that would put pressure to renovate instead of rebuild (unlike the SCG or MCG for example).
The shape of the stadium and rake of the seats means it’s not well suited to the majority of sports and events it caters to. Further reason not to upgrade it.
I’d be happy to sit tight for the next few years with Accor, let the dust really settle on Allianz, and come closer to 2030 aim for a full rebuild which will cost over $2B
Victoria is broke.Absolute PR disaster for both Melbourne and Rugby Union.
The self-proclaimed ‘sporting capital of the world’ is now effectively passed over for the third major sporting event in Australia.
For union, they just find more ways to alienate potential fans.
Accor will always be used for club games even in current configuration.Souths are moving out
Dogs are looking at Liverpool
They just got the union World Cup final and semi final and there aren’t any more events after that
Allianz is an amazing stadium
We need more club games there and none at Accor
Think bigger and further ahead.Souths are moving out

More clubs in Sydney should move their home games v roosters and souths to AllianzThink bigger and further ahead.
A properly built Accor with a roof, the new transport options live, new entertainment precinct and residential precinct that the government is planning etc It will be an amazing stadium in the right location to service all of Sydney and make it a true entertainment Mecca.
it will provide the opportunity for clubs to generate event club games from the 18-25k they generate today to 30-40k on the regular. Plus the public holiday games that are 40-50k today, could be pushing capacity in the new stadium.
Even if there was a commbank-esque
Liverpool stadium and dogs moved there and Souths moved to Allianz, Parra, Dogs, Panthers, Tigers should play at least 2 games per year at a rebuilt Accor and each of these games should attract 40k plus.
As far as today goes, I agree we should be having more club games at Allianz and CommBank.
And what better way to generate usage of the new transport options and drive entertainment venue usage by attracting people to the area with a brand new stadium.
The cost will be a problem but I think it will make sense in a few more years.
Thats not just an issue with Accor but with any large stadium
I think a well thought out design can improve it and maybe 40-50k games will be common outside the larger events
