Accor is located well especially with the upcoming changes with the Metro etc

Sydney is a decentralised city like Tokyo or LA, unlike all other major Australian cities. It makes sense to put the major stadium in the geographical heart of the city, not the CBD which is on the eastern fringe of the city.

They also don't have the sprawl of Sydney, That is the biggest issue.

If only people in the 1800's when building places like Parramatta they thought towards sporting venues

Perth runs 140kms North to South! Im not sure sprawl is a unique Sydney thing! Difference seems to be the other cities have very good public transport systems to get everyone into the centre, then when they've built a stadium they make sure it fits well with the public transport system.

What makes Sydney decentralised is not just sprawl, it’s that there are major centres of urbanisation throughout the metro area not just the cbd. Essentially mini cities scattered throughout. Also the geography of Sydney with lots of waterways throughout the city means there is greater need for these mini cities to cater for the population living in that vicinity.

Sydney has the best public transport system of all major cities regardless especially now with the metro line which is leaps and bounds better than anything else in the country. But people in Sydney don’t have to go to the cbd to enjoy a night out, a good meal etc there are major centres spread throughout

Perth has half the population and doesn't have the harbour/River through the middle

Manly for example is 20km from Allianz

Yet the traffic has to travel over the Harbour Bridge or another bridge near Homebush to get there.

You aren't doing that in under an hour for 80% of the time

Like I said other cities have their public transport well built and build stadiums to utilise it. In fact stadiums like Optus have no parking at it as everyone is expected to use the excellent train and bus system to get to it. There is no need to drive. You can live in Butler (50km from Optus) and be at the stadium on event day in 40mins on the train.

And they're showpiecing it a venue where some spectators will be upwards of 120 metres from the opposing sidelines

I remember watching Australia vs England at Marvel at the 2008 RLWC. We were promised the seats would be moved in. They weren't

No, I suspect they're trying to increase the popularity in Australia. The MCG won't contribute to that.

I do think having a 100,000 at a non US venue is a nice story for the NFL. It's an impressive sight. 100,000 even in the US would make it the biggest NFL venue.

Which is why I said American football. There are a number of college stadiums the same size

There is no need to drive to Olympic Park.
It was built to handle 500,000 people a day.
Only going to improve with the Metro.

Kogarah needs to be a 27.000 combank type stadium. owned by the NRL a ground for all off Sydney teams.
