All the money getting spent on stadiums lately (last few decades) is due to increased acknowledgement/belief/understanding that not much needs to be spent on roads or hospitals any more because they are very good now.

In Spain they have recently renovated Estadio La Cartuja, a venue in Seville. A ground that doesn't have a regular tenant but was used for track and field athletics. The two major teams in the city, Real Betis and Seville FC have their own stadiums.

The capacity of the ground with the running track was 57,600. But in the redevelopment, they lowered the pitch by 5 metres, and built new lower tier seating to increase capacity to over 70,000. A venue that could be used for the 2030 world cup. Post world cup, it may be used for the Spanish national team. Already in use for Cup Finals.

Perhaps a renovation idea for Accor Stadium. Start the rebuild from this particular way and do it in stages.

HBF looks very, very basic. It will feel like a poor man’s day/night out compared to the AFL @ Optus. Unless the NRL wants to be a second rate experience, no.

The capacity is fine, but the NRL should be pushing to upgrade the amenities, including roofs on all stands. This is not 1995.

Its hard to push for such things when they are happy to accept even lower standards of stadiums being used by clubs. Like I said its half done. Just needs the other half sorting.

That wouldnt work for ACCOR and overall, its a mash up.
There is no change or movement to the far ends ,which ACCOR needs fixing up.

The design of ACCOR is different to most Track and Field Stadiums.
It was in fact, designed with Rugby League in mind post Olympics.
The AFL came along and screwed it up which impacted the ends of the field
Here is the original image and design from 1996 of what ACCOR shoud've ended up.
Note the rectangular field

So how you go about rebuilding ACCOR Stadium? I doubt the NSW govt. is going to knock down the whole stadium.

Spend 800 million to replicate Allianz stadium except the top tiers ?

What a waste of money.

Stadium could go another 25 to 50 years as is and it an event stadium only

Souths will be gone after this year and dogs will too if they can get funding for Liverpool

That leaves four or so rugby leagues games a year

Stadium is already 26 years old. Not sure if it could go on for another 25 to 50 years. A 76 year old stadium! The way the Dogs crowds are growing, Liverpool may not be the solution.

Unlike the sfs it’s been designed with enough exits in case of a fire etc and has access for disabled people etc

I heard these a push to put a roof on it
