in your opinion…

record crowds, ratings and revenue says otherwise
Of course, a discussion board on the internet is 90% opinion based is it not? But my point still stands, the NRL has been cutting its nose of to spite its face for some time - if the Raiders want a new stadium, empty threats could help. I started my sentence with "I know it won't happen" anyway, so I'm not sure why it triggered you into a debate on this Friday morning.

Sounds to me like you are the one triggered over my one liner

A lot of the NRL's 'success' at the moment is purely because of how accessible it is. We all know that the current product is pretty trash
Outside of the Melbourne and Penrith dominance (which I'm so f**king done with) I thought this season has been pretty good overall. Much better than in previous years.

Yeah this season has been great. We’ve had a lot of close games, it’s been unpredictable to pick the winner. There’s been a lot of drama and interest The nrl is constantly in the news. We’ve had a different mix of teams at the top of the table.

Even still it looks like the finals will again be dominated by Penrith and Melbourne. Hoping at least one of them (Penrith) doesn’t make it to the GF this year and we have some fresh blood.

There's a crop of teams - Warriors, Bulldogs, Dolphins particularly - that haven't regularly been in contention in recent years, BUT could kick-on in the next few years and threaten the established strangle-hold that the Panthers & Storm have had. Heck even the Raiders having a great season so far has been a surprise when most were expecting them to drop away like the Roosters have (or worse!)

The next few years are gonna be interesting..
