With the imminent arrival of Jamie Lyon to your club for 2007 (what a bloody good signing you guys got there), I was wondering if you guys reckon he'll ever reveal why he walked out on the Eels.

Don't get me wrong - this is not a trolling topic. I'm not here to cause trouble. And, to be brutally honest, I don't blame you guys for going after him. He's a class player. The only person I'm angry at is Jamie Lyon.

Anyway. That's beside the point. Do you guys (maybe you guys with inside knowledge) reckon he'll ever tell us the truth on why he walked out? I don't know...I guess I just need it for closure. It's a hard pill to swallow when your favourite player walks out on the club you love so much and doesn't say why.

I did hear rumours that he asked Brian to play 5/8 because he believed he could and Brian Smith laughed the suggestion off...

But I guess they're just rumours.

But, contrary to most other Eels fans I know, I don't actually hold a grudge againstt Manly for signing him. I reckon you'd be nust not to - the guy is pure class on the field.

Around the time he quit, he was asked by The Manly Daily what he (Jamie) thought about the prosects of playing for Manly rather than Parra were. He mentioned it was because of Manly's laid back attitude at a coaching and club level.
I think that is of detriment to our team, and didn't take it as a compliment in the least.

I think it shows Hasler is too friendly with the team, and why players like Harris / Mullane / King / Williamson and co. cannot be dropped regardless of form, and why Brian Smith can drill minor premierships into a team.

It's becoming known that players can bludge when they hit our shores in my opinion.

Anyways, that's what he says. That tells me Brian Smith was very professional, but at the same time inflexible. Maybe that's the reason mate?

I worry that Jamie won't improve under Des, and that's what we need.

Paul Stephenson mentioned that Des Hasler doesn't give the young guys confidence, and focuses on the stars. Apparently Nathan Brown on the other hand, goes out of his way to make his young guns like Naquama, Simms, Creagh, Gorrell, Poore etc etc believe they are better than anyone they are up against. That's the difference. Des won't give Ballin and Cuthbo solid goes, even when Dunley / Willow play VERY poorly consistently.
