My word is that Cartwright has been approached as a replacement for Elliot who is not on another period of probation. Hes definately going in 2010, its just a question of when.

In the meantime, it is rumoured that Wallace signed for the Broncos for a lousy $20K more. If that is true, management need to take a good look at their recruitment effort.

But its not all bad news.

On average, our panther player catchment produces a NRL representative player once every 18 months. Thats about the best in the comp.

Insiders are troubled about team prospects for 2010, but the record shows that this is not an unusual concern. For example, any serious suggestion during the 2002-2003 offseason that the Panthers would have won the grand final in 2003 would have been met been great criticism and derision.

They were a bloody good side, but not that good (or so we all thought at the time!!).

There is a lot of talent in our catchment, its just a matter of harnessing all this energy and making manifest the Panthers as the true rugby league powerhouse they deserve to be.

Elliot was supposed to bring this together. Hasnt happened.

Here we go with another new direction.

I think management should abandon all the hoopla crap, just tell everyone that they are a club trying hard to win the comp.

So is Kingston 100% signed?
I'd say that was an error in the article and it was meant to read "Purtell joins Panthers recruits Daine Laurie and Nigel Plum".
Although who knows.

So, let me get this straight.
Simmons? Purtell? Howell?
f**k OFF! I WANT TIA-KILIFI BACK!

Cartwright signed a extended deal with Titans early in the year.Would love to have him back but he has been living up there for a while even when the roosters assistant coach

is howell a guess or inside info raider .I can see purtell being in first grade but can not see where howell would fit in

Guess. But Howell is keen to come back to the NRL and Elliot rates him very highly. Elliot even stated that he thought Howell should of been playing rep footy. Howell was capable of playing good footy but it was often overshadowed by his blunders.

I saw one game featuring David Howell recently, I dont think he a bad recruit. He's tall and has size. Be good on the wing or centre which is what we really need. He had 14 tries from 19 games last season for Harlequins.

Yes, his stint with Ricky is highly thought of.

His rejection of the panthers at the moment may have something to do with Merve.

At any rate, Elliot is persona non gratia and does not have the full confidence of the people who count.

I think we all knew this at the start of last year but the concern lingers.

It was funny to watch the pro-ellioters running a mile last year.

Nothing can save him.

what the hell...

by that article i would say Howel is not going to be with us.I normally hear rumours that are close when players sign .But the Howel one came out of the blue.I doubt we will sign him as we now have the positions he plays covered

If there is a shred of truth to what you say then why the hell have him sign another two year contract earlier this year?

Andrew pearn may be another possible loss currently looking at what offers are out there.Pearney is one that never got a shot under elliott.Would be sad to see him go but understand he has to look after his future

I dont know Caged, I am just reporting on the word.

The cadre are extermely unhappy with 2009 and are slinking around for a new coach.

Despite the feelers, Carty doesnt want a bar of the black until some of the characters are purged from the club. Thats most unlikely.

Not that I am a 100% Carty-man, not since he made his unkind thoughts about Souths well known a few years back.

BTW in other news, according to my source, there are only 6 spots in the top 8 next year as the dogs and saints are absolute certainties.

As for Fitler, as much chance as being seen in Penrith as mob is wearing a Roosters jersey.

Yes, On a stats basis, Iosefa definately ranks behind Kingston.

But not at his boots, maybe his chest.

They are both below the NRL average in the 2nd quartile ie 25-50%.

you are kidding are you typing it from your band wagon.I thought you lot burnt your band wagons when you lot chocked again.Kingston played in a team that was on fire not hard to look good.Isofia played behind a very average forward pack and a even more average coach.Lets see in 2 years time who is even still around

It's a stupid argument.
Iosefa has far more potential but possibly has attitude problems and is yet to really find adapt to first grade.
Kingston is very solid, more experienced, but will never be anything more than that.
Personally I'd rather we were buying a center, in which case we'd have more depth there and still have Romelo, Iosefa and at a pinch Sammut and Blair for depth at hooker, but Kingston would rate as one of our top 5 signings this season!

I hope we do bring Kingston to the club as Romelo and Iosefa are largely untested at the top level. Iosefa in particular has had his problems with discipline for starters which is a worry.

The disappointing aspect remains the fact our recruitment only began when almost everyone else had finalised there players rosters for 2010 and we have been left with the leftovers.

All our recruits in Simmons, Plum, Laurie and whomever else we actually bring in are leftovers and players unwanted by the clubs we have brought them in from.

Where were we in June and July when the whips were cracking and there were some quality players available. No where to be seen as it would appear.
