Galea off as Raider's new look emerges

Canberra's 2012 squad continues to take shape with forward Danny Galea the latest to depart.
The 27-year-old's two-year deal with the Penrith Panthers reunites him with the club at which he made his NRL debut in 2002.

So thats Tongue , Orford , Miller , Vidot , Galea and Milne who will no longer be at the club.

In the article it says we are on a hunt to find experienced backs.

You would think that we would have to be close to being a million or more under the cap.

I don't understand how they say our squad continues to take shape. With no signings it's more apparent that we are losing shape.

Seems we don't rate him outside of fullback and Massey has that locked up. We have been preparing for this when Hodge was moved to centre. Sauiluma has spent some time with South Logan already so I can see him being given a go next season. Him and Chee Kam seem to be in the Galea mode being able to shift from centre to backrow when required.

I can only assume we are freeing up so much room under the cap to keep Dugan... I mean there is no one else out there who could command a tenth of the money we have sitting around doing nothing now...

That said do we have anyone who has been at the club long enough to get the salary cap discount now?

I have always been a bit of a Milne fan. I know he has been inconsistent thru the years but I would still think he is good enough for 1st grade somewhere, or at least 2nd choice.

glad galea's gone. Completely useless player and a total dud signing.

He was pretty much signed on the advice of bronson harrison because they are both best mates. What really pisses me off is that hacks like galea have held back players like edwards, nicholls and skinner. Why the f**k couldn't some of those guys been given a crack this season given how poor the rest of the squad have performed.

Just on milne, I have no doubt he will flourish at another club and become an excellent first grader. You can put the handling of milne's situation in the big basket of furner's f**k-ups. I rate him a much better winger than robinson and he is miles ahead of james stuart.

We are leaving ourselves too exposed to injuries though.

We've shed:

Galea
Orford
Vidot
Tongue
Miller
Waddell
Milne

And we've signed???

There wasn't much on the market this year to be honest... We do have a habit of creating out own players instead of buying ones... Maybe after the cluster that was Orford we are going that way a bit more (if that is possible).

Pretty sure we are trying to get back Waddell now. We are taking a big punt on the backs as it seems every junior we promote has positional issues. Forwards we can cover, hooker not so much.

After watching a few Toyota Cup games, I wasn't overly impressed by any of the young blokes. In fact, some were bloody horrible and none looked like they were ready to make the step up to FG.
