Gallen: Permission to negotiate with rival cubs

Good to see the Sharks playing hardball.
All to often in the past we've given 'mates rates' to players who have been at the club for a long time as to not upset the apple cart.
I wouldn't be paying overs for him. Just what the club think is appropriate for a solid no thrills backrower who hasn't represented yet. I'd like to keep him but at the right price.

If we have to offload a few backrowers to get a classy guy like Pritchard from the Panthers it would certainly be worth it. But on the rumour mill on 2ky this morning someone said there was a strong chance Pritchard wouldbe going to the Rabbits.

Has Cronulla approached Pritchard, does he have permission to negotiate prior to june 30 ?

I would swap Gallen for Pritchard anyday ... Gallen is good, Pritchard is better.

Gallen must think he is worth alot more than we offered. I know he has played well for us recently and I am a big fan but if he does leave then I think we can cover it.

Why is Gallen a villain for finding out what he is worth?

Good on him. Doesnt sound like he's playing bullshit "will I - wont I" games like a certain Mat Rogers has done once or twice now.

Ive got no problem with gal, or any player going out and seeing what they can get on the market. I'm jsut saying that I think modern players may get a rude shock when their next contract comes around as to how much, or little, money is actually being offered to very good players.

Nuffs, Thanks for that mate, I wasn't suggesting Nuts offers were shocking, I don't know what they were, but the fact he wasnt enticed away from sydney by the big dollars that those clubs traditionally need to pay for bloody good front rowers, as nuts is, suggests to me that the money is no longer in the game.

Where did I say he was a villain?

And where did I say I was talking to you?

It was a response to the mood of this page of the thread...Gallen going to get a rude shock, Gallen's not worth that much etc etc etc

I hope for the sharks sake, they resign Gallen before the deadline. I think a few clubs would be gunning for him.

Pfft. Sully is about as likely to play for Manly as I am. But Kennedy is such a young man with so much left in him.

Where was this SS?
What did he say?

Well me and my inebriated mates had just left the presentation
I was walking down the stairs when I heard a noise from behind me
One of my mates had stumbled over and was just regaining his balance and was apologising to some guy who he'd almost fallen over
I noticed that this 'some guy' was Michael Sullivan
I asked "Have you agreed to terms or is that a lie?"
He said very pointedly "That's a LIE" and then told me that Sharks have told him to talk to other clubs
That's the way I remember it anyway
