According to rumours in the dragons forum, he may be a last ditch option to replace JDB if he’s not available at all this season.

Thoughts?

Is he past it or can he still offer something?

I wouldve said no way.

However, did you say someone in the dragons forum said this?....well, thats
got me thinking this could be true. Totally.

He does love Flanno, but just couldn’t see it. If he was going around again, it would be for not much coin, and he’d play for us.

If he did come back why go to Drags unless paying him motza, they cant win the comp.
He could come back to play with us, that i could see if we released a forward maybe Toby, and took little coin
Only other team i could see him playing for would be Eels as he is local junior, but they seem to be settled in who they have

He won’t be coming back.
Why the f**k would he?
he should’ve pulled the stumps after the 2016.
He will fight half a dozen 4-6 round fights in the next 18 months and take in 200-300k each time. They will all be stiffs and he will just pay off another investment property.

As soon as fights are sanctioned again in NSW, there will be an announcement of a “tune-up” fight with eyes on bigger prizes.

Early in all this CV 19 stuff he was on a footy show saying that he had been stood down from coaching responsibilities. So that would be an automatic loss of income. Who knows when he will be able to box again, so that’s another income stream gone. Don’t reckon he’d be short of a quid but if he doesn’t have any cashflow and has loan repayments due it could get him out of a hole without having to sell assets.

If the Dragons finally bite the bullet and stand JDB down they can apply for dispensation for his salary that they would have to spend on a like for like replacement. JDB’s contract isn’t huge but it’s decent. Gal could pick up an easy $100k for a couple of months work.

It’d be a dumb decision by the dragons, which is completely in line with their current modus operandi.

Gallen has actually publically stated he'd play for the warriors if they asked to help out.

And I'd fully endorse Gal filling in at the Warriors, as those guys by their sacrifices have saved the competition.
Never tell sheep jokes again about them.

Thanks for this thread @muzby .
We didn't have to start a new one for the real news......

Paul Gallen has sensationally offered to come out of retirement and give his services to the injury depleted Warriors for the remainder of the 2020 NRL season.

The NRL have refused to lend the team any players to deal with an injury crisis, but Gallen said he would be willing to seriously consider answering an SOS.

“The Warriors have done such an amazing job to get over here to Australia, so many sacrifices to get the game going again, you’d like to think we could help them out as much as possible,” Gallen said on 2GB radio.

“I tell you what, we’ve got until June 30 and I heard Billy Slater say he’d come back and play, Sam Thaiday today said he’d come back and play.

“I reckon between the three of us you’d get 10 or 15 games out, so why not, give me a call.

“The sacrifices they made, I would consider it.”
