Galvin v the Tigers

100%.

Lots of hypocritical people throwing their oar in the water on this.

Maybe Galvin didn't handle himself perfectly within the four walls of the club, I wasn't there.

But I know for damn sure he's allowed to test the market and go to a new club - as so many players do - and earn more. He doesn't owe the Tigers anything that I can see.

Of course the bloke is allowed to leave and get more money, or go to a club he thinks will be better for him on less money. At the end of his contract. He isnt even allowed to talk to another club for 7 months.

Is there anyone here who honestly doesn't believe he and his manager don't have a deal ready to sign with a club for 2026?

Could the “grievances” not have been raised previously ?
Yes, but you work with the situation you are in. They obviously wanted to keep him if possible or else they would have made no offer.

Trying to throw money at a situation that money won't fix is piss poor management.

Theres two (possibly) new clubs coming in for '27 and '28. If you think this is bad just wait to see the shenanigans that happens over the next 18months as clubs try and secure players and players try to eak out every $ they can!

Yeah I'm 100% on board for this. I've said that elsewhere, that he should absolutely be seeing out his contract, as he signed in good faith. And that Nov 1 deadline is one of the great 'rules that no one gives a f**k about' in this game. It's like a waterproof towel. It literally has no value.

And yes, I also believe he has something lined up at Parra or somewhere else. Isaac Moses doesn't have a shred of decency to him, other than to line up the most lucrative deal at the earliest opportunity. So you can guarantee there's something teed up, and as illegal as it is (although never enforced), Parra would have played ball back, too.

Not one believes he should be able to leave before the end of 2026? Or do you mean when his contract is done?

I would imagine a lot of Tigers fans would happily see Galvin rot away in Ron Massey Cup

I meant when his contract ends.

The initial reaction is to throw the kid in reggies and forget about him, but this doesnt help anyone. If he is in such high demand lets see what the Tigers can get. I am sure this is the next step for a seasoined operator like Richo.

Why is the onus on the Tigers to try to “work with the situation” ?

Its the other side apparently who don’t even want to consider the contract/offer and the agent is telling them they are wasting their time…

Tigers called the meeting to try and make the offer. His agent came to the meeting and said they don't want to accept any offer because of these 7 reasons. Richo ended the meeting after the first two reasons were given. This has all been reported in the DT.

Could these reasons have been given earlier, yes and they very well may have been given the issues he had with the club previously.

Instead of getting the shits and acting like a child, they had an opportunity to try and resolve it or work out an exit plan that gets the Tigers something of benefit. Now they have an angry playing group, a coach that isn't in control of selection decisions and a 29 man squad.

Galvin has gotten exactly what he wanted here. He'll get released early and play elsewhere in 2026. It doesn't make it right. I am not a fan of that this has all come about but Tigers fans should be happy to see the back of him.

His quote around "making the call now is so that the Wests Tigers have enough time to plan their roster" is a bit BS IMO.

Tigers can't do anything until the end of this year, anyway. Making the call at the end of the year would only mean he would be playing for the Tigers in 2026. This way, Wests will likely release him from the final year of his contract.

Well..time will tell who was right or wrong …as I said earlier in this thread … public perception will come down to how many many games they win and I think they will struggle anyway with or without Galvin

I think Tigers might have to release him after the public bullying by his teammates. His teammates made it clear that it would be a hostile work environment and that they don’t want to play with him.

Prior to that I think they could easily have let him rot away until his contract ends. Publicly imply he can work his way back into the team with the right attitude.

Now their best bet is probably letting him negotiate with other clubs for 2027 and allowing an immediate release if they can get a good trade out of it. Then they can block a release saying it didn’t work for both parties while looking like they made an effort to make it work. Or maybe someone comes along with a trade they like.

It doesn't hurt the Tigers though, does it? A rare line in the sand to show that contracts mean something? It's meaningless to get another team to pick up his contract. So only if they can get a decent trade deal, I guess
