Game day vs Knights

Burt is not a first grader, let alone a fullback. He missed four tackles for their order three tries.

But it is the way he misses, by so far, that is so deflating.

He plays for the knights last night we probably win.

Well lets see if Chirs Anderson is able to make any difference next match.

It took him most of this match to work out that Tim Mannah is not the lock and Matthew Ryan is not the hooker.

He should go much better later in the season - wait until he gets his head around the 10 metre rule and two marker defence.

We shifted he ball to the edges vs Penrith and got early ball to our backrowers and centres. That's how Hindy and Morgan did well.

This week there was none of that and we tried to punch through the middle. Fail.

The back 3 + Tonga were very disappointing. The forwards had no fire in their bellies.

We can't follow a game plan and have trouble lifting ourselves two weeks in a row. Someone tell me who's fault that is. It's not bad luck, cos we're f**king 8 from 41 (guessing the stat).

I personally think we can blame the whole game on Burt too! I mean he missed the tackle on Naiqama that led to his break, he also didn't catch the bomb that led to their first try.

I find it funny how someone can blame the loss on one player yet defend the coach so vigorously who has a much worse record than said player.........

I wasn't that disappointed last night, we showed some pride in the jersey and the Knights got lucky (I know you make your own and they did) a few times. Tonga passes to Morgan and we have a massive chance!

Burt is a f**king mug the merkin should have been dropped or retired three years ago. He is scared he won't contest anything (tackles or high balls) and his positional play was just as shit, but no let's keep him in our team because he is smart and a nice guy. I agree tonga had a poor game last night but he atleast was coming back from injury unlike this f**king pussy. f**k THIS f**kING HAS BEEN OFF

Why does Kearney persist with him?

Back from the game, chAnge hookers and the result could have been different.why we don't have a second 9, and don't appear to be recruiting one is beyond belief. Even get his brother back, service was horrible from dummy half. To add to the problem , Luke Burt is not a full back. Recruitment is vital and has to be effective

Wasn't HinchclIffe supposed to be the new hooker? Recruiting must be good but will be blunted by a coach with no idea.

No idea but if there isn't someone else at the club that could do a better job, then we are moe f**ked than I thought. Take your pick from any of those outside backs in the 20's or wenty, any of them would have more ticker than that f**king cat, shit my 4 year old would contest better

Newcastle were not that good last night & we could not beat them. That's the worrying thing for me. IMO, we are still - after 39 games - playing like a side who doesn't know each other. But, of course, I'm sure the Kearney-clan will come up with a myriad of excuses as to why that is not his fault. Maybe it's all Burt and Tonga's fault.

I am now convinced the whole "keep Kearney" caper is purely a money saving exercise. Someone at the club has done the math and realised the cheaper option is to have a few lean years and not pay him out. You can bet your bottom dollar the next coach won't have the contract clauses this hack [reportedly] got.

I really don't give a sh!t who the coach is or who is on the board, etc. I just want my Eels to be truly competitive more often than not. You can talk the talk about structures and culture changes all you like but, right now, I would take 2010 all over again over this tripe. If nothing changes, 2013 will be more of the same.

I'm going to disagree on Tonga.

I don't think he was terrible. He handled the traffic they sent his way

I thought his defence was excellent, as it was earlier in the year.

Made good metres too, given the limited service he got (off the back of our slow play-the-balls).

All our attacking woes come down to our slow ruck in the middle. Mannah is great, Allgood is ok. Fui, Hindy and Poore end up on their backs far too often.

Thought Tonga was terrible in attack, he offered next to nothing for a bloke who played for Australia not long ago it was disappointing.

Could have passed to Ryan on two occasions for try's but bombed it.

His defence was good i guess but not good enough to discount his lack of drive in attack.

That's the thing. If bringing in these blokes is more cost effective than paying Kearney out early, God knows how much his contract & said clauses is worth!!!

There are a lot of strange decisions being made around our club at the moment. You could say, common sense ain't so common. Time will tell, I guess.

"They looked to me like a side that's playing like they're trying not to lose, rather than trying to win" - Sterlo on MMM re The Eels #nrl

That's a pretty big call from Sterlo. It sounds like he has an axe to grind. Has the club has shunned him or something of late?
