The Lady Melisandre cried out and strained with the effort of birthing the ungodly shadow creature she must send forth on that night. The Lord of Light had given her this dark boon to use for the good of the world, and tonight she would send it forth to do her bidding and hopefully rid the world of a threat.
As she grunted, her guards suddenly stiffened to attention at the sound of approaching footsteps. Four men in Lannister red flanked the Queen Regent as she came into the darkened cave. Torchlight cast terrible shadows against the cave's uneven walls.
"Childbirth is a terrible strain," Cersei observed dryly, "But I find that a woman never looks more beautiful than she does in the moments of quiet afterwards. Tell me, Red Lady, is Stannis the father of this babe?"
The Lady Melisandre, absorbed by the strain of her task, could only watch on with wild eyes as Cersei Lannister and her men advanced.
"Kill the guards," the fair haired woman ordered her men. A short scuffle saw both of Melisandre's men dead or dying on the cold stone ground.
"I'm not here to kill you," Cersei confessed, "Just to see that you don't finish what you started tonight".
She gave a nod and her men advanced, burying their steel shod boots in Melisandre's sides and midsection. Ignoring her cries of agony, they didn't stop until she lay in a crumbled heap weeping. She'd birth no horrors tonight.

Olenna Redwyne shuffled about her chambers and muttered to herself about the awful smell that wafted up from the crowded streets of King's Landing.
"Filthy city," she observed, "And the worst of the lot are at its head".
She despised the Lannisters, and the young king most of all, but it was for the good of her family that she was here to see her granddaughter married to the atrocious little bastard.
"A bastard in more ways than one," she chuckled, "If Stannis Baratheon is to be believed".
The door to her chambers opened, and she spun to face the intruder and give them a lashing with her tongue for their impropriety.
The boy was fair skinned and dark haired, and the blade in his hand was of Valyrian steel.
"You're making a mistake," she warned him, but he did not heed her words.
She was right, of course: he had made a terrible mistake.

Cersei Lannister allowed herself a small smile as she relaxed inside the scented and luxurious Queen's Wheelhouse. Her evening had been productive, and she could now return to King's Landing and be with her family.
The loss of her brother and lover had left a gaping hole in her that Lancel Lannister had thus far failed to fill, but she'd call him to her bed tonight all the same. Anything to stave off the loneliness.
As the Wheelhouse creaked along, it jostled too and fro. Bronn used one of these loud, sudden lurches to mask his leap onto the roof of the Wheelhouse, and quickly cut the throat of the guard up top. It was still full dark out, so he was able to slip down the side of the massive carriage and in through an open window before a guard could spot him.
He dropped into the seat beside Cersei with a grin.
"'Ello, your highness," he quipped, "Melisandre sends her regards".
He ran his knife across her throat so quickly and so smoothly that for a moment, she thought he'd missed his mark. Then she tasted copper in her throat and felt the warm, hot blood pouring from the wound and she knew he had not missed.
Smiley is dead. He was Cersei Lannister, House Lannister Aligned Queen Regent.

For the second night in a row, Tywin Lannister found company in his bed. Last night it had been Tyrion's perfumed whore, and tonight it was a fiery wildling redhead who warmed his sheets.
But the woman was here to serve more than just that purpose, and she gave a startled cry as he grunted his completion and rolled off her. A dozen Lannister guards had entered the room during their rutting, and they stood with weapons in hand.
"You didn't think you'd just walk out of King's Landing did you, wildling?" Tywin said as he pulled on his robe and made for the door.
"You know nothing, Lannister," she spat at him. The doors caved in as a horde of fur and leather clad warriors burst into the room. The Lannister men spun to face them and in the chaos that ensued, Ygritte was able to make good her escape.

Melisandre woke to the gentle dabbing of a damp cloth against her bruised face. A tall, handsome woman stood over her wearing armour and a look of concern.
"Who?" the Red Lady began to ask, but sharp pain in her stomach doubled her over and silenced her.
"Quiet, my lady," Brienne replied, "You've been wounded. I'm here to protect you".
"Isn't this cute?" a new voice spoke up, "Two women for me to f**k".
Ramsay Snow oozed into the room with a smarmy grin and a blade in hand.
"Don't worry, big girl," he said to Brienne, "I'll make sure you get some of what I give her once I'm done".
He moved with the quickness of a snake, but Brienne was faster than her size might otherwise indicate. She cut off his advance and threw him back. He came on again, and she used the hilt of her sword to bloody his nose.
"You will not harm the Lady Melisandre," she shouted.
Snow wiped the blood away from his nose and grinned.
"You're feisty," he said, "I'll have fun with you. And as for her," he indicated the groaning Melisandre, "I'll be back for her when you're not around".
He turned to leave, only to find a sword buried in his belly and a terrible, scarred face.
"Give the Gods my regards," Clegane spat as he twisted the blade. Ramsay Snow cried out in agony and fell to the ground, dead.

Ygritte and Mance Rayder met in an inn just outside of King's Landing.
"How did it go?" the King Beyond the Wall asked her.
"They tried to kill me!" Ygritte shouted, "I could have died in there".
"I knew you'd be fine. My men were there to take care of it".
He put an hand on her shoulder to reassure her, and in that moment saw the figure with bow drawn and intent in his eyes. He shoved Ygritte aside just as the arrow whistled through the open window and thudded into a nearby table.
"That's twice I've saved your life tonight," he said as he helped her to her feet and sent men out after the shooter, "You're a popular one, aren't you?"
-------
Stannis Baratheon shivered in his bed and cursed the damnable cold that this new winter had brought. The Lady Melisandre was out in the dark somewhere when she should have been here to warm his bed.
He had half a mind to go lay with his wife. It was so cold.
The door to his chamber creaked open and he grinned.
"Ah, Lady Melisandre," he began, "You're back earlier than expec-"
But it was not his fair skinned and fiery haired Lady, but a horrible, dead thing that entered his chambers. And it was cold. So cold.
Bright blue eyes fixed on him and the dead thing came on with unexpected speed. Stannis barely had time to scream.
Stannis Baratheon is dead. He was Stannis Baratheon, Seven Kingdoms Aligned One True King.
